Questions about UAB/ St. Vincent's

Hi!

I live in Huntsville, AL...which is about 1 1/2 hrs. north of B-ham; but I grew up in Birmingham. I was actually born at St. Vincents! It's a really growing hospital. I don't know much about ratios, etc. One of my good friends works there in L&D. She started working there because they were one of the only hospitals in B'ham area that would offer insurance to nurses working prn. I thought that was a good perk.

Sorry I don't have more information for you...but I noticed that no one had replied, so I figured that one fact is better than none!

Hi Amy. I actually grew up in B'ham. My husband's in the military and we live in Japan now. We are thinking about settling down in B'ham when we leave here. I was just wondering how things have changed since I left back in 1998.

I moved to Birmingham in 1998, and I have seen a vast amount of growth since then. I moved away in 2004 to begin Nursing School at Auburn University Montgomery. Being that you are a former employee of St. Vincent's you will probably be interested in their expansions due to completion in 2006. I am not quite sure about what wings are included, but I rode past there about three months ago and they have torn down the Occupational Care Center and the expansion has reach that pointto University and all the way back almost touching that McDonald's on the corner. UAB has also added another pavilion to their estate across the road from Captain D's on the corner of 6th and 20th. I am very impressed with St. Vincent's growth, you might want to check out their available positions upon your arrival back to the states!!!! Good Luck and I hope this helps!
