How FAST/what route to RN if u already have other degrees?
I have a BS in Biology and I attended a school in Alabama in which I went straight into my BSN program. It only took me two years to complete, however; as the other readers have posted, check out some of the accelerated programs in your area. I looked at these programs, but I wanted to complete the program at a slower pace:chair: . I hope this information helps!!!!!!

Which School is better?
AUM has a great BSN program. You should check us out at http://www.aum.edu, then click to the Academic link, and then to the Nursing link. The faculty is great, the clinical sites are nice, and their graduates carry a great amount of prestige within the state! Check us out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nurses: Delighted or Annoyed by Nursing Students?
i have experienced both sides of this topic. i have had nurses that acted as though they were very appreciative of our presence, and i have also had those who acted as though i had pooped on their shoes before they came to work that morning. it really is discouraging to us as students because we think " god, this person really hates their job" or sometimes on one of my pms days i think "she should be more appreciative of me being here, besides i am working for free!" meanwhile, i am watching her lounge around in the breakroom for hours on end while me, the "poor nursing student" scrounges around lost and confused-and then to add insult to injury-i can't even ask a question about this med that i am not sure about because my "primary nurse" in giving me evil looks, i can't find my instructor because she is off helping one of my other nine classmates, and some one has "borrowed" my drug book because they are just as confused as i am-and they have the big, mean, nurse as their primary nurse. just thought i would vent for a minute!

Wallace State Hanceville
What is the PASSING rate? A passing rate is usually quoted in terms of percentage which is indicative of how many people actually PASSED NCLEX. 250 graduates are a lot of people to manage in a nursing program, and quite frankly, I have never heard of a school in Alabama accepting that many people. Our class began with 80 people and now we have lost 24 due to failing courses, clinical points, and simply by choice. The point of the statement I made is that you have to look at things like passing rates when choosing a Nursing Program. Reputation speaks for itself, as well as the competency of a school's graduates .

Wallace State Hanceville
Don't know if that is true or not, but I can say that Hanceville, AL is in a very hicktown and located close to nothing other Cullman, depending on what you like -:uhoh21:- this could be a good or bad thing. Look deeply into it before you decide to attend a program simply because it is "easy to get into". You might want to check out the AL State Board of Nurses to look at NCLEX passing rates also! Good Luck!

Need help with scholarship information and pay rates
I just researched information over the computer about scholarships. There is a website that is called fastweb.com and it has links to several different scholarship opportunities. Also, the Alabama State Board of Nursing offers scholarships through their website along with a lot of valuable information as you begin Nursing School. The hospitals in the state that I know offer NUrsing Scholarship/Loans are as follows: St. Vincent's (Birmingham), Baptist Health Systems (Statewide), and East Alabama Medical Center (Auburn/Opelika). These scholarships operate by payinf for your full tuition, fees, and books while requiring you to obligate to work for this hospital for a specified number of years after graduation. I hope my information has been useful to you!!! Good Luck :)

Questions about UAB/ St. Vincent's
I moved to Birmingham in 1998, and I have seen a vast amount of growth since then. I moved away in 2004 to begin Nursing School at Auburn University Montgomery. Being that you are a former employee of St. Vincent's you will probably be interested in their expansions due to completion in 2006. I am not quite sure about what wings are included, but I rode past there about three months ago and they have torn down the Occupational Care Center and the expansion has reach that pointto University and all the way back almost touching that McDonald's on the corner. UAB has also added another pavilion to their estate across the road from Captain D's on the corner of 6th and 20th. I am very impressed with St. Vincent's growth, you might want to check out their available positions upon your arrival back to the states!!!! Good Luck and I hope this helps!

Need help with scholarship information and pay rates
Anyone out there know about how the scholarship/loan program works at East Alabama Medical Center? I am mostly concerned about what the repayment time according to the amount they pay is (they will be paying for two semsters for me), nurse/patient ratios, and what their starting rates are for new graduate nurses. Any information that anyone has out there will be greatly appreciated!!!

I need help........SOS
Thank you so much for reply. I am just a bit confused though. Is Princeton the hospital that is located in Bessemer or am I confusing that with another hospital? Also, is it a division of the Baptist Health Systems? Thanks for your help!

Hi Georgia......
Thank you for your response. Are you going to have to locate your own preceptor, or is your school arranging that themselves?
