I have a few questions for anyone currently attending or has graduated from Johnston Community College in Smithfield.
Can anyone give me any information on the point ranking system at Johnston Community College? I would just like to get a basic idea of how many points are given for various things.
On the admissions criteria, it says you need a "college algebra" as well as two science courses. It says that BIO 110 and CHM 131 can be used to satisfy these, but my question is, which college algebra can be used? And for the two science courses, could A&P I and II be used instead of the BIO/CHM?
Will the classes I am taking DURING the semester that I apply, count towards the required courses/point system? For example, suppose I am applying by March 1st in order to attend the nursing program in the fall of next year. Will the classes that I am taking during the spring semester, but haven't completed by March 1st, count towards my GPA and/or course requirements?
I'm getting confused and frustrated by the admissions process just to start pre-reqs at the college. I applied in June, they had all my transcripts as of June 30th. I got a letter a week later giving me a date and time for the placement test. I went in and took that on the 14th of July. Then I was told to make an appointment for an admissions interview, which is coming up on the 21st. I was assuming that I would be given all relevant information and be able to register for classes immediately after that interview when I am offically accepted into the college, but I just read something on their website that seems to be contradicting my assumption.
It says that after my admissions interview, I will have to make yet another appointment to meet with my advisor, after which time I can register for classes. It also says that advising takes place on Aug. 11th and 12th. So does this mean I wont be able to register for classes at all until Aug. 11th or 12th??? That is really concerning me because I have been looking on webadvisor at the classes I might possibly need to take, and they are filling up quickly. And if you're going to have a large number of people registering for classes on the same day (Aug. 11th), won't it be nearly impossible for me to get into any classes? I'm trying not to stress out too much but just when I think things are moving along finally, I read something like this that seems to set everything back. I know once I get my foot in the door I wont have to worry about it so much for the semesters to follow, but just to get into the college seems like a very complicated process!
Anyone else have any experience to share about JCC? Thanks!!
