265 questions! I passed my nclex-rn!!!!

Hi NURSES!!!!

Let me get straight to the point!!! well- kinda straight to the point!!!!

IT TOOK ME 4 TIMES and a year and a half to PASS!!!!

My REALISTIC Process:

Interactive Resources:

Kaplan! Good information but SO BORING!!!

HURST was better and more mind stimulating!! HURST gets right to the point and helps you remember WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW!!

NCSBN- ALOT of information! BUT GOOD INFORMATION!!! I purchased the 6 week course and took my time and reviewed as much as I could with the time that I had!

Books:

Davis's Q&A NCLEX book- good questions but it some of the information was contradicting!

Saunders- Good but, more for nursing school! It was good with information but, the questions were not hard enough in my opinion. I would use this book to reference back to for information if I was confused about whatever information was being presented to me. I used google too! :)

Exam 1- 93 questions- failed- (used Kaplan to study)

3 months later....

Exam 2- 76 questions- failed- (Kaplan resources)

4 months later...

Exam 3- 265 Questions- Failed (David's NCLEX book and Kaplan recourses) - I just knew Kaplan would work- but NOPE!

6 months later.....

Exam 4- 265 QUESTIONS- PASS!!!! I put GOD first (not because I failed the previous times, I wanted to grow with God anyway), HURST and NCSBN!!!

I USED STRATEGIES AND KNOWLEDGE with my first 3 exams!!! I USED KNOWLEDGE and didn't focus on using strategies on my last exam- I just answered the questions AND KEEP IT MOVING!! For all of my exams- I HAD SATA, DELEGATION, PRIORITY, DRAG AND DROP, PHARM, HOT SPOTS, ETC... I HAD IT ALL!!!! Except, my last exam- I didn't have any math!! but that doesn't mean anything because I know people who have had math and passed!! DONT COMPARE YOUR EXAM TO OTHERS!! The EXAM that YOU TAKE is WHAT MATTERS!!!

Hurst and NCSBN really worked for me!! I prepared for 6 months!! Yelp 6 months!! I took my time (like I did in the past) and did what I needed to do to get through both recourses!! I used HURST first and then NCSBN last to help fill in any gaps! I didn't get through all of the practice questions with NCSBN but I did most of them!! and YELP I reviewed the night before!! That's just me! I WISH I WOULD HAVE DID HURST AND NCSBN FIRST!! :(

That morning of my exam I got up at 6:00 am (exam was scheduled at 8am- on a Saturday)- I looked over a few labs, ate oatmeal and a BANANA!! Eat a BANANA- IT HELPS CALM YOU DOWN BEFORE YOUR EXAM!!! I ate one 30 minutes before I walked into the exam too. So two banana's!! IT WORKS!!

When I arrived- I was more anxious to get it over with than I was nervous!! I wasn't shaky and my brain wasn't about to bust open either! I walked in, prayed and just answered the questions! I didn't get up and take a break like I've done in the past- I didn't feel I needed too. When I got restless, I just stopped and took my eyes off the computer for a little bit- I even stood up to pop my knee and stretched while I was at it- then I started again! I pee'd (yelp pee'd) after the exam. I don't recall having to pee during the exam! lol! When I finished I wasn't a wreck either- like I was in the past!! The feeling that I had was just different compared to previous times!!! There was this little tinkling of a feeling that I had that told me that I would pass! but I was still preparing for the worst! If I could shut off my brain to not think about the past then I would have, but comeon- lets be real! I thought about it but I was calmer than I had ever been while I was waiting for the 48 hours to pass!!!

When I found out- I was at work- and OMG!!! THE FEELING OF EXCITEMENT WHILE TRYING TO KEEP IT DOWN WAS IMPOSSIBLE!!!! IM SOOOOOOO OVERLY EXCITED AND EXTREMELY BLESSED!!!!!!!! GOD, MY SUPPORT SYSTEM AND MY DETERMINATION was what helped me along the way!!!

YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!! DONT GIVE UP!!!!!!!!!!!! PUT GOD FIRST AND WATCH THE BLESSINGS FALL IN PLACE!!!!

I can finally get on with my life and YOU ALL WILL TOO!!!!!

Yours truly- the NURSE! :) #ExcuseAnyTypos
