Is the Cerner® electronic medical record (EMR) the same as Millennium PowerChart? What is the difference between them? Why Cerner market their product in pieces? I just want to know their products like ACUTE EMR, CPOE, and POC, but their product information on website make me really confused. Many solutions seem like essential but overlap.

I wonder why no one has replied to your thread. I thought i was probably the only person in the world interested in CERNA. The whole world seems to have gone EPIC crazy!!!...hahaha. I am interested in EPIC too but was just wondering if mastering CERNA would provide me a platform to breaking into the EPIC world;)

I believe that Cerner EMR refers to the applications under cerner's umbrella, like, radnet, surginet, powerchart, firstnet, etc.

Cerner's Millenium Powerchart it is just one of these applications, which is typically used on med-surg floors; Surginet Millenium for example, is used in the surgical areas like the OR, PAT, etc.

I cannot remember the details but Cerner Millenium is the name used to differentiate the newer version of applications, from the older set of applications that Cerner used to install.

Think of Windows. Windows 7 is really a newer version of Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, etc.

Why Cerner market their product in pieces?

I believe this is because they started their company by offering software to the bloodbank/labs.

Then they slowly introduced other applications to other departments. Many hospitals would buy the best of breed for a department, and since Cerner didn't have a solution for all departments, then hospitals would turn to other vendors to satisfy specific needs.

Of course, the idea was that if a hospital got one application, then cerner would hope that the hospital would buy other additional applications, so they were/are flexible to selling specific solutions to clients since they understand that hospitals might have other applications that they might not want to get rid of or replace.

Hi, I know I'm reviving an old thread but I wanted to know if anyone had any tips or tricks for Cerner Millenium, powerchart. I'm just learning how to use this program and want to customize the settings. I want to remove unneccesary icons in the toolbar. I feel the program is a bit overwhelming to navigate. Any links or advice would be appreciated.
