I am a new graduate RN who has the opportunity to work in Hem/Oncology/BMT as my first new job. I am an older nurse and my goal in life to to become a travel nurse. I know I must work 1-2 years before I can start traveling.
My question is that I was wondering if this is a good unit to start in for travel nursing. Will it be able to transfer across departments or will I always be only considered for Oncology jobs? Should I just wait for a Med/Surg position which always seems to be in demand?
Thank you for any advice.

I would call some travel companies and ask them directly. I think the better paying, in demand travel jobs are er and icu. If you get really specialized like cvicu or a dialysis nurse there may be slightly fewer positions, but the demand is great and accordingly so is the pay.
