I have a BA in psych from many years ago and I want to attend Trinitas, but I can't find any info about the procedure for someone who already has a BA. I even wrote to the dean and she said to look on their website, but all I see is info for those who are HS grads. Anyway, would I have to take any pre-reqs? I know my science classes from college are too old to transfer, but what I don't understand is if I have to take classes like A&P now or do I apply to the program first and then take them. I am planning on starting classes in the fall. Thanks
Ok, I guess no one knows the answer so I will ask a different question. I applied to UCC the other day and they sent me info on how to register for classes. So do I now send them my transcripts (from high school & college) or do I take the prereqs first?

Hey there, Glad you found the info from the school-- amazing how difficult it is sometimes to get info that you need.
In answer to your ques, based on what I found when I began my journey towards applying/fulfilling prerequisites...It depends on the program...if it is an accelerated program and they could make a decision based on your transcripts prior to fulfilling the prerequisites, you might be able to have their decision on the condition that you finish up your prerequs by a certain date... most of the schools that do allow this, make it pretty clear on their listing of prerequistes on their websites. Also, keep in mind that you might be able to do one or two of them online (like stats or nutrition, but check first--some schools don't approve or favor individuals with online courses..).
If you have a lot of prerequisites like API and II, Microbiology, Stats, Nutrition, and such, then you'll need to enroll somewhere that has these courses (make sure that they are transferable first though-- like with Chemistry especially...believe me, you want to make sure that you take the correct one before you begin...some require a Chem with a lab, and some require a basic Organic Biochemistry, which doesn't come with a lab at some schools). The prerequisites could take you one or two semesters.
Trinitas is where my Pathophysiology professor from Rutgers went--she's brilliant and has referred to Trinitas a couple of times during lectures.
Best of luck!!!!!!!! and congrats on the move forward! :)

Hey dreamer19...let me tell you what I know from my experience. You apply to UCC and declare a major in nursing for trinitas. At some point you will receive a letter saying you have been accepted and you should send in your transcripts, among other things. However, you can send them now but there is a form in the admissions office you need to fill out before having the transcripts sent in, so that they will evaluate them. If there are prereqs you need to take, just go ahead and start them. Once you have established a gpa, you will receive a letter inviting you to register for the first nursing course (you may get the letter before a gpa is established, it just depends on the number of slots available). Also, since you have a BA degree already, you can opt to do the diploma only option. If I were you, I would go to the Cranford campus and talk to the enrollment specialist. I really had a great experience with the lady (don't remember her name). Her office is right across from where you sign up to see a specialist. Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks for the advice! I was in touch with an enrollment specialist yesterday by e-mail and she told me what prereqs to take and mentioned the diploma option but didn't go into detail and said to call her, so I will next week. Did you do the diploma option?
You're very welcome! I did was going to do the diploma option but I ended up getting into Muhlenberg's accelerated program, so I'm going to do that instead.
I'd like to do an accelerated program but they are all during the day and I have to work then. I don't understand what the diploma option is. Is it just the nursing classes without the basic college courses? I don't see what the difference is between diploma and the ADN....
If you go the traditional way, you will finish with a nursing diploma from Trinitas and an associates of science degree from UCC. With the diploma only option, you graduate with just a diploma in nursing from Trinitas. You only need a diploma in nursing and a degree (doesn't matter what field) to be eligible to take the NCLEX. With the diploma only option you can transfer more credits.
Ah, I see. So doing the nursing diploma only would take less time than the associates degree. That seems like a good option. I will discuss it with the enrollment specialist next week and will let you know what happens. Thanks!!!
Yes definitely let me know how it goes! Good luck!
