Question on how the TEAS is scored?

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Hello everyone! I am taking the TEAS on March 4. I purchased the study guide and practice test from ATI and tried out the practice test just now to see what it was like. I just blew threw it to get an idea of what was on there and got a 74%, fine with me, especially since I bombed the science! Now I know what to work on. But, when I asked the school I am applying to what a "passing" score was she said 20 on math and 50 on reading. Huh?! I got a 93% on reading and 70% on math, what is she referring to?

Hello,

Sounds like she's referring to the minimum % score needed for each section. 20% min. for math is very low, 50-60% for science seems to be around the average score required by many schools. Which version are you taking? Overall, the ATI manual and online practice tests are very helpful. From what I've read on posts, many people feel the science section in the manual is very basic and general. The actual test is much more in depth. Check w/ your school for clarification: there's probably a min composite score and/or min. score for some or all sections. Good luck on the test! I hope I've been helpful.

thanks so much! I was hoping somebody would have an answer. I am taking the 3/4 version, they are switching to 5 in the fall. I feel a lot less nervous now that I've seen the practice test!

Hi hisrib,

It seems like you'll do well. My advice would be to take 3/4 while you can. The version V is more rigorous and scores have been about 10 pts lower than the older versions. Good luck!
