First of all I would like to say how 'I love OB' nurses :) I work in a hospital as dietary aid and I love my OB nurses.

Q. My period came on July 31. Every since 8-15 I been feeling nausa and heartburn and very tired. I went to the doctor on the 18 and he said i wasn't pregnant. I was wondering if I took the test too soon? Can I be pregnant and I will have to wait till sometime next week to know? I know the Home P.t should be taking 3 days before your period but from the doctor office is their a time limit I should wait? Was it too soon to take the test at the doctor office?

Thanks for any input!!!

Well the date you should have conceived would have been 8-14, provided you have a regular menstrual cycle. If you took a blood test at the Dr's office and it showed no BHCG levels than your probably not pregnant and it's better just to wait until you miss a period. Some people do complain of nausea early in pregnancy, but the heartburn usually occurs when the uterus is bigger and it pushes up on the stomach or progesterone levels are elevated and causes relaxing of the smooth musles in the body causing reflux of acid from the stomach. If your really anxious to know try 5 days before you miss your period you should have a positive result from an early pregnancy test by then, if not try the Dr's office again once you have missed your period....Hope that helps :)

When I was pregnant with both of my babies it took a week after my period was due to get a positive urine test. A blood test took 2-3 days. I am pretty confident I conceived on day 14 with both as I was charting my cycles, so I think for some it just takes a little longer. So maybe you would want to wait until after the first of September if I am reading your dates right and retest? Good luck with whichever you're hoping for.
