question about staffing guideline

This question may have been asked in the past. I am from dallas, texas and planning to move to california. Is there a mandatory staffing guideline in this state? What is the nurse-patient ratio on a regular med-surg floor? in ICU? in recovery room?. I would really appreciate if someone can answer this question for me. Thanks.

Check out California forum. New law implemented on January 1st. Ratios the same on all shift. 6:1 on med/surg, 5:1 tele, 4:1 transitional or step down unit, 2:1 or less in critcal care. Don't know what recovery room is? Also as of next January med-surg goes down to 5:1, in 2008 tele 4:1 and step down goes 3:1 somewhere down the line.
