Question about RN program at Brookhaven in Dallas

The prereqs that are listed (A&P, Intro/Dev psych, Chem, Comp, Micro, etc) are to be done prior to turning in application. They recommend that you finish all of them, but you can apply if you feel you're ready and have a good amount of points. I was accepted last minute, and I still had three more support classes left. I'm currently taking them so I don't have to piggy back them while in the program.

Actually, the pre-reqs HAVE to be completed before you can apply. Then there are the support courses such as A&P II, micro, end of life, doseage, etc, which you earn points for completing before you start the program. See, you get points based on your HESi score. Then you get additional points for each support course you finish. Some are worth one, some two. They add your point total together and that ranks you. I can tell you that the chance of you getting in with just a high HESI and prereqs done is slim to none. I did very well on my HESI and completed all the support courses but one and just barely made it into the range of those that go accepted in the spring of 2009. So, you are looking at an easy year, year and a half to get those out of the way before you start the program. I do know one or two students in the program that got in without all their supports finished and they are really struggling to finish those AND everything you have to do for the program. It is accelerated so you basically have 3 months less to do the work than normal ADN programs. Honestly, I couldn't imagine having to take Pharm, Patho, Micro, or A&P II while in the program. There is just too much to do. Plus, you really need that knowledge from day one. Good luck.
