Question regarding Pearson VUE Trick

Published

Hello!

I take the test on Monday Feb 2nd (scared ********, but that is neither here nor there), and I was wondering:

1) At what point you get the 'good / bad popup' that I hear referenced?

2) Can I do this immediately after the test?

3) Has anybody been improperly charged through this process?

4) It looks like my state participates in the early 'Quick Results' thing - I can't do this the same day I take the test, right?

Thanks

1-You are referring to the PVT (Pearson Vue Trick). You will not "get a pop up" after the exam. If you attempt to schedule another test through PV (the 'trick' is seeing if it will let you), you will either be able to do so ('bad pop up') or you cannot do so ('good pop up'). You will need to hand over your credit card and authorize a $200 charge so....better do it correctly, or you run a very real risk of losing your money.

2. NO. Regardless of what many people will tell you, MANY people do this incorrectly, and are none the wiser. The ones who BECOME wiser are usually the ones who tell you "it didn't work, it took my money and I passed anyway". There are many threads and posts on the NCLEX forum devoted to this topic; read them. I'm happy to clarify anything, but only after you've actually done the homework :)

3. Yes. Or rather, not "improperly charged", but actually "properly charged" as people voluntarily handed over the money--too soon, didn't listen to what they were told about how to do PVT, etc.

4. QR are available 48 hours after completion of your exam. This is the ONLY official notice of a pass/fail you can get, other than your State BoN's website update showing an active license if you passed. Some States update faster than QR; some take days, some weeks.

Thank you very much for your thorough response! Well I certainly don't want to lose out on $200 out of stupidity, maybe I'll just skip the whole thing. I need to do some last minute cramming for this thing, I only got a 61.9% on the Kaplan QT7, so I'm feeling pretty nervous!

Thanks again

Hang in there, and remember to let yourself BREATHE! FWIW, the day before the exam give yourself time off...you really will need to calm the nerves, mentally prepare without freaking yourself out. There isn't much you can do just a couple of days before the exam anyway; 'cramming' really doesn't help at that point. Since in order to pass the exam you aren't just spouting off numbers and facts, but showing that you can APPLY what you know, by this time your studying is really done anyway.

Do questions on the Qtrainers, etc, but honestly....your numbers are very good. Can't tell you how many people stress over how they "only" got this or that on the Kaplan prep tests, only to pass the actual NCLEX with a minimum number of questions. Something tells me you'll be fine :)

Remember, the day before the exam, turn off the computer. Take a walk, play with the dog. Treat yourself to something fun you've been denying yourself because you didn't want to "waste the time". Eat something yummy, watch some fave movies, whatever works to get your mind/body winding down.

This is high stress time, so remember you MUST make the effort to combat that effect. Take care of YOU!

Thank you so much, I felt relaxed just by reading that :) I will take your advice and relax the day before! It sounds much needed! Today and tomorrow I'll do more Qbank questions, and try to memorize medication suffixes, and then Sunday I will relax!

Thanks so much :)
