Question regarding part time positions in Canada

I have been offered a part time benefited position 0.56 with a health authority in Canada.

Can anyone explain to me what a 0.56 would be entitled to? That is, if I work a 0.56 will I get all benefits? Will I need to pay a higher premium? How exactly does this work here in Canada?

Thanks so much!!!!

You would have to consult the employer regarding benefits but generally part time positions do not include benefits.It may vary but I get 14% in lieu of benefits added onto my pay since I am part time. It would likely depend on the local agreement if it is a unionized position.

the employer stated that position is benefited. unless i am misunderstanding, this is what was stated to me;

"it is a part time 0.56 position. but you may have the option of working full time hours as someone is on maternity leave. you still own the regular line accruing benefits etc, but you obtain the full tie hours from the temporary position. "

Well there you go. I guess you have benefits if that's what they said.

Thanks, I just wanted to make sure as I am internationally educated and wanted to make sure that was correct. It does seem odd that a 0.56 would be benefited.
