Question regarding gas exchange

Published

If the capillaries in the cardiac muscle and the alveoli of the lungs are enlarged to approx twice the normal diameter what dysfunctional effects would this have on the heart and lungs, and what other physiological symptoms would occur in the body? I would like to know at least six symptoms and reasons why it would occur.

Thanks in advance :)

What have you found in your research so far? What caused the capillaries and alveoli to enlarge?

Thanks for your reply.

Heres what ive come up with so far.

Due to the dilated capillaries (nothing has caused them to dilate, they are just so) gas exchange would be impaired. So far im looking at hypoxia, dilated cardiomyopathies, cyanosis, dyspnea, hypoxemia, angina and arrythmias. Im also looking at respiratory acidosis?? and the sympathetic nervous system compensating by increasing heart rate and everything else that goes with it.

Ive already done my research, just want to make sure im on the right track :)
