Question regarding Central Arizona College

U.S.A. Arizona

Published

Hello

I am a pre-nursing student at a MCCC. I have completed all my pre-req's and the majority of my co-req's. (I only have to complete Microbio, and Antatomy & Phys II.) My application is now in-as of Jan '10- at CGCC and now the waiting begins...However, I just recently heard about Central Arizona College and how they have no wait list. They have a few more coreq's you can complete to add points to your nursing application ex) nutrition, developmental psych and I would have to take the HESI exam- but it sounds very similar to MCCC's program.I was thinking I could knock out a few of those this summer.

Anyway, anyone know anything about that school? I have searched thru other threads about it but haven't found much of anything positive or negative...

I met w. a CAC advisor who reviewed my un-official transcript & she said it looked good-but she wasn't a "nursing advisor." I am concerned that some of my classes won't be accepted because they are too old- like 2001 old. My BIO classes would be new, & they do state on their website BIO I and II must be w. in 5 years. I would like to know about my old credits before I bother calling my old school in NY to send transcripts. I tried calling CAC nursing advisors again today but their advisors are busy...() so I can't get an answer to that question...their main campus is a hr away from me so I would rather not spend 2 hrs in the car for a simple question. Also- you think tranferrring all PREREQ'sand COREQ'sin looks bad?:uhoh3::uhoh3::uhoh3:

Any help appreciated. THX!!!!!!!!

I attend CAC however I am not a nursing major. I can tell you that it is very competitive though. I have all nursing majors in my classes. Figure about 1000+ students vying for the school's 100 or so positions in both the fall and spring . I will tell you that the advisers here will get you nowhere whatsoever. They are overworked and scatterbrained. If you'd like to talk more about CAC I'd be more than happy to PM you (but you have to have 15+ posts to pm) or exchange email addresses and tell you more about my experience here. Also, check out some of my previous posts about their deceitful practices & financial aid .... If you live an hr away, you will have to pay what is considered "out of county" tuition (Pinal county is considered "in county tuition"). So imagine it being at least 2x the cost you're paying now for credits @ a MCCC college. Not worth it if you ask me for the level of education you receive here. There are some strong CAC supporters on here who are "in" the program... take my opinion with a grain of salt, but I truly do know what I'm talking about (disregard my age b/c I've been here 3 semesters haha).

Thanks for the info... I figure it is worth a shot, worst thing that can happen is I get told no,and end up waiting on MCC anyway.

I actually am in Pinal county just over the border.. yay for another 5pts on my application!
