Question about primary care PNP clinical settings

Published

I will be starting the primary care PNP program at university of south alabama and am curious about what settings I will need to precept in. I have a contact at a pediatricians office that also employs NP's that I could precept at but does anyone know if you have to do clinicals in any other setting other than general peds like peds cardiology or anything? I would like to start establishing contacts there if so. Thank you so much for your input.

Yes you can. Although the degree is pediatric primary care that does not limit you just primary care practices for clinical. My school was pretty open about clinical experiences. I did peds urgent care, peds ED, and a peds GI specialty clinic in addition to do doing clinical at primary care sites. Ask your school about their expectations for clinical experiences.
