I have recently received a letter from the Oklahoma Board of Nursing offering me to voluntarily enter the Peer Assistance Program. My previous job at a LTC home fired me for a couple things that include not showing up on time, taking to many breaks, mostly just smaller things but the biggest one they had wrote down was me not properly documenting PRNs that I was giving. They had paper charting and it's something that they hadn't addressed to me before and when they dismissed me from working there they didn't drug test me because the admin stated she would lose half her staff if she did. So other than them turning me in for not documenting the PRNs given as I worked on the overnight shift charge nurse and I was pretty much the med aide too. I never admitted to using drugs although they had speculations that I was. So they sent it in to the OBON and now I have to decide what I need to do moving forward. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have any advice on what my options are moving forward with this? I don't have a problem joining the peer program but I don't get why I'm having to choose to enter or be investigated based solely on that. Just trying to get some advice before I move forward with this. Thank you
