Question about the nursing program

Published

Hello everyone, I recently decided to go back to school and get my AS in nursing and I have a question. I haven't really decided whether I'd be going to Miami Dade or Broward College. Broward College seems to have an online course for the nursing program yet Miami Dade seems to have a part time program.

My question is regarding Miami Dade Colleges nursing program but maybe it applies to both... Once you are IN the program are you obligated to take the courses in the order and in the amount they show in their program sheet?

For example... First Term in MDC shows - NUR1025, NUR1025C, NUR1060C, NUR1142.

Do i have to take all those at once or can I just take say NUR1025 and NUR1025C (which I assume is the clinical) and leave the other two for after I'm done with the first two? Since I work full time I just want to be able to gauge properly the time commitment needed and make plans accordingly.

The NUR1025 and NUR1025C have co-requisites - 1142 and 1060C. I don't go to college in your area but I believe these classes all need to be taken together because you'll need to learn how to do assessments while you are doing your clinicals and need to know pharmacology and medical math before administering drugs.

I see... Thank you for the quick response. This has me more confused on whether to go to Miami Dade College or Broward College. Taking all those classes together seems a little difficult to me. A coworker of mine just finished her nursing degree at Broward College and she tells me that once she got into the program they did only 1 class every eight weeks, so Process1 for eight weeks, then Process2 for eight weeks, then Health Alterations1, etc.... which sounds way better imo. Sigh too many choices :(
