Hi there,
I have a question for you all. I am currently in an MSN program and planning to go into midwifery (although I still can switch programs). I am passionate about midwifery, and truly excited about doing it! However, I was told by a few people in the class in front of me that midwives pay as much as half of there salary for malpractice insurance.
I plan/hope to find a job in a group practice of OBs/midwives delivering in a hospital. Is it true that midwives working this type of position pay that much for malpractice? As much as I love midwifery, I simply can't afford to pay that much for malpractice while trying to raise four children...
I can find information about salaries for midwives in my area, but how do I go about finding out about insurance rates? And do you all find that malpractice rates are a a big factor?
