Hello. I am in the process of applying to CCAC's nursing school and am trying to decide between Allegheny Campus and Boyce. The appeal of Boyce is the "Fast Track" option, also the fact that they have "web-enhanced" courses. Can anyone out there tell me how the "web-enhanced" option works, (I'm assuming some or all lecture is online).
Also, where are the clinical experiences at Boyce, (ie. how far out are you traveling).
Also, can you give me a "sample" schedule? Are you able to chose your class times/clinical days or are you just assigned?
Any information would be GREATLY appreciated.
Thanks!

I start CCAC Boyce next Monday, so the web-enhanced classes are new to me too. I was told at a seminar last week that during the 1st semester clinicals would be at SNFs in the Monroeville area. Worst case scenario would be having clinical at a SNF in Westmoreland county, since other nursing schools compete for clinical sites too. I won't know where I go for clinical until Monday when I go to orientation. As for scheduling, we don't have the freedom to pick our own schedule. You're given a list of schedule options and a lottery system is used. I was lucky to have my name picked early and to get my 1st choice. I have clinical 7-3 on Wed and I have lab and lecture all day Thursday.
Excellent, thanks for the info! Also, if you don't mind my asking, was Boyce your first choice? Do you know if people usually get their first campus choice?
Also, if the lab/lecture you're referring to a nursing class or another course like A&P, Micro, etc.?
Good luck, by the way!
Boyce was my first choice because that's where I was taking my BIO courses and plus I was told Boyce (and South) was one of the best campuses to go to. I'm not sure if other people get their first choice. I think it depends on how many seats are available and how soon you turn in your application. Lab and lecture are nursing courses.
OK, great. Good to know. Even though I live in the South Hills of Pittsburgh, I'm still going to apply to Boyce as my first choice. Thanks again for the information.
