Question about BSN v. ASN

Published

NOT debating :)

I noticed in a post below that some NICU's require a BSN. I was planning to get an ASN, but of course would get a BSN if that's what it takes. I'm starting later in life (almost 29) and I have two young kiddos (3 1/2 & 2), so finishing in 2 years v. 4 years would be better for me personally. Who would I contact to find out hiring requirements at my local hospitals? I live in the Cincinnati area and am lucky to live near three Level III NICU's (including a Children's hospital - some would call it a Level IV), and at least 8 additional Level II SCN. Do you think the hospitals would be willing to share that detail with me (BSN v. ASN)? I know I should just get my four year degree, but UGH!

Thanks for the help!

I'm sure they will tell you if you just call the HR department. You could probably also just look up their job postings online. If they prefer a BSN it will say that.
