Question About Oakton NLN Test

Published

SO I took my NLN test at oakton and I scored a 78, which I am very unconfident about. I went to the nursing advisor to ask if they accept people with a score of 78, and she said I can get into the nursing program. I am applying for fall 2009, she said last spring since they only took 28 people the lowest score was a 89, soo....I know I won't get into spring, cause even if I study a lot I can't get a score like that...so I was wondering if people can let me know what kind of scores they got into the program with and if I still have a chance or if it really is a longshot?? Thanks :)

Are you talking about a preadmission test for nursing school?

Yes the preadmission test for OCC, I am not sure what kind of scores people get into the program with???

Since you've posted your query in the forum for nurses who have already completed nursing school and are working as a nurse in their first year, you probably won't get any responses. I'm moving the thread to a Student Forum where you'll have better luck.

Hey how was the test like??? I am not planning on taking until next year but I am beginning to prepare myself for it. Was it really hard??? Please help as I am very nervous already. Thanks

Did you end up getting admitted for Fall 2009? I am applying for Fall 2010. I got a score of 98. They told me I had a very good chance of getting in.

The test was pretty easy. Basic math, english and science. You need to be quick with the math to finish. All of the problems are easy and could be figured out with reasoning (even if you don't have great math skills), but you need time to finish them. There are no calculators allowed. The English section includes reading comprehension and vocabulary. If you read alot, you should be fine. I know alot of people who had trouble though, especially if they were not native English speakers--the vocab tends to be tricky. The science was the hardest for me. I had not taken any science classes in 5+ years when I went into the test, but I guess it ended up going alright since I got a 98 overall. I scored a 99 in English, 96 in Math, and 88 in Science.

Wow congratulations!!!!:yeah:you'll definitly get in the nursing program, there is not doubt about it. Thanks for the input, i will be taking the nln on jan 2010 in order to get in for fall 2010. Hopefully I'll get in, i'm going to start studying for it. :banghead:
