Queen's University Advanced Standing Track

Hi all~ I just found out that Queen's University is offering a 2-yr-AST program. Is there anyone from this forum who's currently lin this program? Or anyone know more about this program? Looks like they'll only be taking approx 30 students/yr; meaning that it's extremely competitive. If you're in the program, would you be so kind as to provide me with your average or the acceptance average? A range would be sufficient if you don't want to reveal your actual mark. Also, it there an interview?

Thanks a lot!

A friend of mine applied to Queen's last year, she had a B+ cumulative average with all the required courses and was put on the waiting list. From what I understand, it is a competitive admissions process since there are so few spots.

If you are applying from BC, are you guys also open to schools other than Queen's University? There are many other accelerated nursing programs in Ontario: Western, McMaster, University of Toronto, York, University of Ottawa...off the top of my head.

Hi!!!!!!!!!!!!!, can you please please tell me specifically what your friends gpa was EG. 3.3 gpa.....because a B+ ranges from 3.3-3.69 i believe??

THANKS for replying to this thread, its much appreciated

oh mine~ thank you all for the inputs. i think we've already came so far from having no info about queen's ast at all to finding someone who's applying for the program or knows someone who is. you have no idea how thankful i am!!! :wink2:

please continue providing us with more info if possible~~~ i'm also gonna see if i could dig up some info myself and post it here

nessness : please let us know how the ast-info session went. did they provide you additional info than the ones you've already told us?

liza205 : i'm sure keeping my eyes open for other nursing school. there are sure a lot of options. but with regard to a fast track program, i've came upon few problems eg. some university require the completion of a bachelor degree(i forgot which one), then there are some problems with the physiology requirement i'm doing... i'm doing animal physiology and some programs only accept human physiology, and some university just never replied to my email... but i'll keep looking. the list of universities you provided will be a useful guide. x)

any updates:???????????????????????????

For admission to fall 2010 at queens.

a friend of mine has completed the pre-requisites and has a degree under her belt.

and queens just replied to her saying something along the lines of "because you dont have an average of A- your probability of getting in, isn't good.... but youll still be considered....

I'M SO WORRIED NOW! (i applied there too, but my transcript will be sent in after this fall term... which is why i haven't heard the dreaded news yet!!)
