Queens Medical Center Oahu Hawaii

Published

Hi! I'm currently in the mainland, but have a phone interview with QMC West in Oahu for an RN position. I'm just curious as to what the starting salary is for a BSN nurse with 3 years of acute experience. Also, if anyone is currently working there or has worked there any information would help. For example, what types of benefits do they offer? What is the nurse to patient ratio? Do you overall enjoy working there? Why or why not? Anything would help. Thanks!

You may want to check out the Hawaii forum under the "U.S" tab. There was a recent discussion about this topic that might provide you with some of the info you're looking for. Queen's has a pay scale listed on their website, but from what I understand it's quite outdated (although you could at least find out that you'd be making more than those old rates). Good luck.

Starting pay for your experience would be in the low to mid $40's. They offer HMSA Queen's health plan, 401K through Fidelity, Unum universal life insurance, nurse to patient ratio can be overwhelming but for the most part it's staffed appropriately. I loved working there, but never got an RN job after being there as an NA for 3 years. The only down fall that I see with working at QMC is that you would have to dedicate your life to work, especially when you live on the west side. I found an RN job outpatient setting that I love!!! I guess everything happens for a reason.
