Queen's Medical Center/Kuakini Medical Center - Honolulu, Oahu

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi. Just wanted to know if anyone out there works at the Queen's Medical Center or Kuakini Medical Center in Honolulu, Oahu? I am English and live in London, but worked as a volunteer in these two hospitals for a couple of months at the beginning of 2001. Had a fantastic time and I thought everyone I met out there was great - really friendly people! Would go back there in a flash if I could! :)

I am from Oahu, Hawaii; born and rasied. I am actually working in Seattle Washington right now in a pediatric hospital . I decided to go into pediatrics and I recieved no reply from Kapiolani. So I decided to get a year experience first then go back home. Queens is a great hospital, too bad there is no big pediatric component :o

Anyway, I hope to return home to Kailua and warm sunny days soon. ;)

The nurses' strike there ended very recently. Check the relevant threads for more information.

My Mom was keeping me updated on the strike. It lasted so long, about 2 months. The big issue was mandatory overtime, and benefits. It got so bad that the administration was going to cancel benefits for those nurses that were involved. I'm glad that they finally settled. I really don't know exactly what the outcomes were though. If anyone out there knows let me know.
