Is it just me because I'm socially awkward, or does anyone else do this, too?
Pt came in by POV through the lobby, shoulder draped with jacket, as if injured. I asked what brought pt in today, assuming shoulder injury, and was confused by the answer.
Apparently, pt had surgery 2d ago, but what brought him in was that he had puked on his dressing, and being Easter Sunday, the surgery center was closed.
What did I say that was so awful?
"THAT'S why you're here today?!?".
I swear, it's like Tourette's or something, it just comes out.
:-/
Expensive dressing change.

That actually made me chuckle a bit. You know what they say about assumption, right?
if it's any comfort, you're likely not the only one guilty of that particular fault.
