While I was in nursing school, I was arrested 2 times. I made the mistake of getting in the car with someone who had been drinking after I had been drinking myself. The 2 different drivers received a DUI, and I received public intoxication both times. I reported this to the Oklahoma Board of Nursing when I applied for my license, and they are requiring me to go through the peer assistance program. I would like some input about what all this will involve. I have been told I will be doing random drug and alcohol testing for 2 years, which is not a problem, because I do not have a chemical dependency. They also said, I will not be able to pass narcotics for 6 months. Does anyone have any additional information? I plan on working in a hospital, and I believe I am going to be limited as to where I can apply now. I think only certain facilities work with nurses who are in peer assistance. Let me know!
Thank you!

Alcohol is a chemical.... it might be harder than you think to abstain enough to never get caught again. They say that for every arrest there was 20 times of not being caught while under the influence. Get help, maybe try Alcoholics Anonymous so that you remember not to drink.
I'm aware that alcohol is a chemical, and I'm not here to discuss whether or not being drunk twice makes me an alcoholic. Your statistic does not apply in my case. But thank you for your input.
