I have applied for a local health nurse in my community. I received a letter stating I was not qualified. This was two months ago. I meet the qualifications so I called the state capitol- the one who decided I am not qualified and I could not get to speak with anyone despite leaving voicemails and calling multiple days. I let it go thinking they just hired someone else. They didn't. It is posted again. I am applying again.

Question is- what can I do differently? I will be writing a cover letter this time- what are key things employers like to see in this?

I have been a nurse 2.5 years. In ER. I have a passion for teaching and working with the community. I will have my BSN next month!

Specializes in Little of this... little of that....

Did they tell you exactly how you are not qualified? if so, expressly state how you meet that particular qualification

Otherwise, in terms of what to do differently, when writing your cover letter go one by one through each of the listed skills, qualifications etc in the job posting and give an example of how you meet it.

Good luck!

Could be you were rejected for not having the BSN yet.

The requirements is an associates degree and two year exp. I have all of the requirements so I'm not sure. I'm going to try again and again though.
