Hello!

Psychiatric Nursing is a very special path. I did Psych for 8 months before I transferred to Med-Surg to get medical experience. I found Psych to be very interesting and I learned a lot. I moved out of there because my ultimate goal is the OR. Nevertheless, I have friends who are starting to pursue the NP Psych track. One suggestion I have is to look into the Nursing CAS website NursingCAS – The Centralized Application for Nursing Programs

This is fairly new. It is a one stop website to submit all your academic records, research all programs of your interest, and submit an application with the click of a few buttons. You can apply to multiple schools at once if you so choose. There is no fee to setup your account... BUT fees kick in when you apply to certain schools.

If nothing else, use this website to research the programs (free of charge). Good luck!

It's good to note that some schools do not require GRE scores, but others do.

I believe University of South Alabama does not require GRE scores. They do have an online program for NP PSych Psychiatric (Family) Nurse Practitioner
