Hi, guys!!

I live in the Inland Empire. I am a licensed psychiatric technician. I plan to take any necessary pre-reqs to get into an RN program but my question is WHICH ONE??? Should I go private or community college? Many community colleges have waiting lists and I am 45. I am willing to go to a private college but which private college is better? I should have my prereqs finished by spring 07.

Andrea

do you want a BSN or ADN?

Hi,

I am interested in an ADN for now although I will be motivated toward the BSN later.

Go to Loma Linda University, it's the closest in the inland empire. But it has lots of xtra religion classes. Good luck.

Hi PTgirl1 ,

I am not sure what part of the IE you are located in, but if you are interested in a community college route, I would recommend RCC. Here is the nursing page:

http://www.rcc.edu/academicPrograms/nursing/welcome.cfm

and the main school page:

http://www.rcc.edu/index.cfm

I currently attend the nursing program there and I can tell you, it's very thorough, and well worth the value in time and money - (I can honestly say this because I have gone the private school route once before, and it wasn't pretty).

The wait list is not that bad, and it is based on prerequisite points awarded to your application.

Hope this helps!;)

****Thanks for your reply...I will check out RCC..I have had that college recommended to me but the person stated that the waiting list was LOOOONG...but you're saying differently and I believe YOU because you are in the program.

Thanks again for your take on private schools. I had considered Mt. St. Mary's but the price is HIIIIIGH...

Another question? I like the website and I would like to know if it is possible to go under the advanced placement criterion? Since I am a licensed psychiatric technician which is given by the same board as the licensed vocational nurse, it seems logical that I could enter that LVN to RN program...

I would think so, in fact, there are a few people in the same boat as far as I know.

Call this number, the one on the site appears to be the wrong one.

(951) 222- 8407

They should be able to give you a good answer. The office hours are 8-5 M-F. If that doesn't work for you, let me know and I will get the information for you.

Good luck! :D
