Psych NP vs FNP

Published

Which makes the most money? And are there a lot of psych NP jobs?

You might look into other options for RN's as well . Since you're an experienced psych nurse , some travel and other assignments could increase your hourly . If you're interested in pursuing the NP or psyNP, there's some helpful groups on Facebook, many will allow students in to the group . There's nothing wrong with choosing the path that has more flexibility and options, and pay for that matter . As far as job outlook, do your networking and be open to relocation . Decide what is most important. And don't let the naysayers discourage you . You've been a nurse for many years , you know the discouragement that can come from others . Be a leader .

As a side note I do understand and relate with the concerns expressed by other nurses. Psych nurses are some of the sharpest folk I've ever worked with, and their intuition is excellent. Always playing damage control to a pdoc or NP who is not thorough with assessments and only sees the pt for 15 minutes , the nurses are the true heroes here .

Aspiring NP's , never ever treat a RN as if they are lower than you or not as educated. The degree won't match what the RN's have in experience . Respect their work and their set of eyes .
