Hi all! I am interested in become a psychiatric NP in the future, but I have a unique situation. I will be finishing a masters in psychology in December (maybe with a small publication), but I have a low undergrad GPA (2.7). So I am concerned about get in anywhere quite honestly. My bachelors was in an unrelated field so I will be applying to direct entry programs. I did get mostly A's in my undergrad science courses, and do have a 3.7 GPA in grad school, and will likely have good references, I did work at a level one trauma center in a major city as an ekg tech for a couple years, so I have some healthcare experience. I also plan on taking the GRE (again). However, I'm wondering how much that undergrad GPA is going to hurt me. I've been accepted to an ADN program, but I want to use it as a back up route if possible. I'd love to hear from anyone with a similar experience or any insight as to what my chances would be for acceptance and what I can do to strengthen my application. Thanks!

Sound like you would be a solid candidate for NP direct entry program as Masters GPA high showing you can do higher caliber work.
