Be cautious with uprooting everything for the state hospitals as the state's ultimate plan is to close them all and move the patients to frolic in the community. *shake head* It is ludicrous, but they have already closed the largest state hospital acute & long-term mental health and they just closed another state hospital--the whole thing, even forensics. I don't think they'll close them all in the next year, but by 2013???

What about psychiatry at a 'regular' hospital in that area?

Mindy, are you looking to relocate to Savannah? They had a large banner type sign out in front of the hospital that said, "we are hiring LPN's and RN's".... interesting.

Are there any psych facilites near Savannah Georgia? Possibly may relocate there. I have over 5 yrs experience.

I have just been called in for an interview at the state psych hospital. I am actually pretty excited to start and do hope to learn alot (new grad). As far as I know they are hiring everywhere that is not closed...It's really easy to apply, but because of the uncertainty facing many state funded institutions, I would apply here and elsewhere. Many hospitals have psych wards.
