Published

Hi,

I have a question for my friend. She is fron Ontario,Canada and has her PSW diploma and is wondering if she moves to the states, will they even allow her to work with what she has? What is it equivilent as? What will her job description be? Is it like here in Ontario? What is the $ like per hour?

If anyone can help us out here we'd appreciate it.

Thanks :wink2:

What is a PSW?

What is a PSW?

A PSW is Personal Support Worker. They can work in retirement homes or LTC. They basically can do everything for the patient but give medications. Bathe, groom, feed, talk to patients families etc.

First, it will take her about three years to be able to work in the US. Unfortunately, she will jsut get added to the list of everyone who wants to come over. Only RNs can come on the TN Visa because of the nAFTA Treaty. What you are describing is equivalent to our CNA, Certified Nursing Asistant. She would need to take the program over here to get certified over here. Each state has their own certification.

But getting a visa that permits her to work right away, just isn't available. At least thru legal avenues...........Sorry.........

Thanks suzanne4.
