Because of the commute. They're basically saying I should get a job nearby with lesser pay and it will equate to what I'll be paying for gas and time on the road.

I think it really depends on your tolerance of being in the car, how long the commute is, how much sleep you require, etc
to share some perspective of my life in nursing school, in my last semester some things happened and I suddenly moved in with my fiance who lives in Santa Monica. My school was in Rancho Cucamonga. My commute to school was an hour and a half, and then I started precepting in the ER at Pomona which is 45 min each way. It personally wrecked me and I was so tired driving home when I would do 2-3 shifts in a row I blanked out driving and all of a sudden I was like 30 miles into my drive. But that's just MY experience. I learned I am not a commuter and it wasn't worth my mental health. Some people do just fine. I'm personally a sleepy baby who likes to sleep 9 hours a night lmao and that commute on top of all of life's extra stuff didn't allow that so u was just exhausted. I would maybe do a couple practice runs of making that commute like 3 days in a row to see if it's something you could handle?? I would keep your job for now and keep applying and hope you find something closer. Just my perspective. Sorry for the long message but I hope it helps!

I have heard the same from some friends about the commute, but sometimes it is worth it to get that experience under your belt if nothing close by is hiring. You can also rent an apartment closer by with roommates to keep it cheap and then drive home when you have multiple days off in a row.

The traffic up the hill is also super unpredictable so something to think about!

do you know if it's okay around 6am? Or are you referring to those who have night shift?

I live in the high desert and honestly the traffic would really drive me insane. I would commute to the IE for school and had class around 7am and would wake up at 5am latest to be on time mind you, without traffic my commute is 30ish minutes. If you really want Mary's then if it were me, I would rent/share a room cause there's no way I would be okay driving an insane amount after a 12 hr shift but that's completely me! I didn't apply to any hospital in OC or further because I knew the commute is something I'd realistically not do
Honestly traffic there is so unpredictable at all times, if theres a crash or broken down trailer that cant make it up the hill, rain

Hi friends-- SOS is anyone else starting who went to an out-of-state nursing school? I passed my (NC) NCLEX on Friday and just completed the application for endorsement. I am REALLY worried that my license will not be ready by our start date. Is anyone else in the same position?
As I mentioned, I am doing the the CA license by endorsement process. I am transferring my NC license to CA and was wondering how long this process has actually taken people from the time you submit your Breeze application. The website says a 10-12 week processing time, but frankly I am stressed and freaking out. However, I have heard from some that it doesn't take that long so I am curious what you have experienced/ if anyone else is dealing with this right now. Furthermore, is anyone else worried about this communication requirement!? Thanks!!

Hey everyone! I'm currently considering relocating to the Apple Valley area and wanted to reach out to see if anyone has insights on local towns/cities, like Hesperia, Apple Valley, or Victorville. I'm looking for some good, safe neighborhoods to live in. What are the best streets or areas to consider? Would love to hear any recommendations on where to settle in!
Also, I'm curious about the schedule when starting out, does anyone know what to expect for orientation? How is the first month typically? Any tips on adjusting to the new role and environment would be much appreciated!

My situation was different, I was applying to take the NCLEX when it also said my application would take 10 to 12 weeks to process. However, it actually took about three weeks! I think you will make it since you already passed your NCLEX and are just waiting for it to transfer. Just check into your breeze account often to check the status! I'm sure you know about this, but just in case here is the link for where I checked often: https://www.RN.ca.gov/online/appstatus.shtml. I hope everything works out! So excited for you!!
For anyone who is at Apple valley, lmk if you guys want to connect!
