Prospective Nursing Student looking for a cuny school

Published

Hi all! I'm interested in nursing, I have an associate degree in business admin from bmcc but I don't want to further that degree anymore. I checked Bmcc and saw that they have a nursing program for evening students which would be great for me since I work but Iam told that it's extremely competitive. I have a b+ in eng101 and an A- in psy101 so I'm not sure if I have to repeat those classes to meet the requirement and get all As. Is there another cuny school that is less competitive and has evening programs? I really don't want to start a program that I can't get into and waste money and time. Thanks in advance!

To a one every single CUNY nursing program both ADN and BSN range from very to cut throat on the competitive scale. That is all there is to it.

All have vastly more applicants each semester than open slots so it stands to reason some aren't going to make the cut.

CUNY programs not only provide an excellent nursing education but cost less, often much less than private schools hence their appeal.

Try to go for a BSN program especially if you're in NY, there aren't many places hiring ADN nurses... It's already difficult with a BSN but the Institute of Medicine is trying to have nurses extend their education.

Hey, I went to BMCC for nursing and I would NOT recommend it. If you do be prepared to teach yourself everything and many lazy professors. There are a few good ones during the day, but i heard the evening professors are beyond horrible and there's only one section of each class so there's no choice. When I went into the program a few years ago I was told the competing gpa was a 39.8 i had a 4.0. your best bet is to go for a BSN because with an associates in NYC and the surrounding counties associate's degrees aren't cutting it. Medgar Evers might have an evening program, but I'm not sure. Best of luck whatever you choose!
