Just spent an ENTIRE WEEK (for which I am NOT getting paid) wading through the shark-infested waters of what is AKA the prophecy testing cesspool. I realize that travel nursing is big business, and everyone wants to get their hands in my pot...ahem...but this is
UTTERLY RIDUCULOUS!
If I completed the hell that is NURSING SCHOOL and been working in an ICU for over 2 years, making me spend a week of my life reading BS paperwork and jumping through red tape hoops is just bad business.
Anyone whose company mandates they do this nonsense...I highly recommend you look elsewhere. There are recruiters out there dying to hire great caring, competent nurses who love their job and don't mind living out of a suitcase and seeing the country. This Prophecy nonsense REQUIRES you to spend hours reading hundreds upon hundreds of pages of crap, test on it and NOT GET PAID FOR ONE SECOND OF YOUR TIME. IT'S TOTAL BS AND DOESN'T EVALUATE ANYONE'S SKILLS ACCURATELY ANYWAY. They offer practice tests for 10.00 each sent to your email, and that doesn't happen. I tried for weeks to get a practice test, spent the money, and was told I might see one in a week. (Still waiting) My company has deadlines, and I have to work. Prophecy is a big gimmick that travel nurse companies are buying into. Tell your company no thanks and find another one. They are a dime a dozen.

In part, this is thanks to the JC marketing program AKA JC agency certification. Nope, no evidence that it improves patient care or screens providers appropriately. PBDS has a better claim. There isn't much of a marketing benefit either.
As as far as taking such online tests, you can usually cut it down to minutes, especially the ones that allow you to take the test repeatedly until you "pass". Open the test in another tab if possible so you can skim content if you must.
I just went through hospital orientation two weeks ago and they used Healthstream (who used hospital provided tests). I didn't do all the content that many nurses had to do (OR nurse), but I did a day and a half of scheduled testing/in services in two hours just by repeating the tests of I didn't get the required 100%. I did have to page through the content to get to the test but I didn't read much.
At least I got paid for it!
