Prophecy Preemployment Testing

Nurses Career Support

Has anyone had any experience with the "Prophecy" exams? I've got to take NICU and NICU pharmacology tests and pass before I can interview with Kapiolani hospital in Hawaii. Just wondering if they are hard, or if there is anyway to prepare for them. Thanks!!

Hi.. Yes, unfortunately I am familiar with Prophecy's test. I recently applied for a per-diem ER position at a hospital and was told I had to take a Basic Math Test and a Rhythm Test. I have been a ER nurse for 15 years, I stay up to date with calculations and I FAILED! The ENTIRE wording of the Math test was BIZARRE! It was like you were being set up to fail. Not to mention the computer I was on was a Commodore 64 and with a dial-up internet connection.. Every time I tried to input an answer I was in purgatory, meanwhile your time ticks away.

A LOT of decimal placing errors were what got me.. It didn't say "round your answer to the nearest 10th or 100th" It said "round your answer to 2 or 1 decimal place". Id have to say that was the big one for me.. Also, its not multiple choice and you CAN NOT skip and go ahead to the next one.. You literally have to give an answer to move on, I didn't like that. Sometimes, I like to jump to the next question if I'm stuck..but no can do.

I was told if I fail it again, I can not be hired by this hospital for 365 days! LOL And I was there for 3.5 hours...not even hired yet.

Anyways, hope this helps. Im retesting this week. Good Luck
