  1. my sister had surgery in new york and i am with her in recovery, her surgeon came in to check on her and she is very happy to see him saying in a very loud voice how good he smells and then procedes to tell him and the entire staff in the room that he must get more ass than a toilet seat. She was telling him how the nurses had told her that a lot of the Dr;s wear wedding rings but arent really married. so she asks him how many nurses he has done in the storage closets. Im telling her to be quiet but she was having none of that. her follow up appt with him was very very funny as she remembered what she said and felt like crawling under the table :)
  2. orthopedic surgery. the sound the smell the hammering the violence of it. We got a moose this year and we butchered it ourselves I had to leave during the bone sawing part. Just the thought makes me queasy
  3. I am a huge pain advocate. I have seen many people suffer needlesly. PAIN IS NOT OUR FRIEND. If someone tells me they are in pain I beleive them. I will medicate and do other things to help them reposition, massage, enviormental factors. Pain is so subjective adn some people can be absolutely stoic and be in excrutiating pain and others have low thresholds and are screaming at a splinter. My motto is noone should die alone and noone should be in pain. just my 2c

hi fellow nh person :) Have you seen the study guide books that are out there? I have heard of many people getting real help from them. Try not to stress too much that can be detrimental. Get a good nights sleep eat a great breakfast.
  5. we never document in the nurses note the incident report. It is an inside document usually used for safety meetings and ways to prevent things from happening again. If you mention it in your nursing notes then outside people can request to see it.
  6. I woek in a home for adults with brain injuries. Gtubes trachs lots of rehab. We have 11 people who live there. I get to spend a lot of time with each resident. It is a fantastic job.

  9. on our first day of class our instructor said look to your right now look to your left one of these people wont be here at the end of this program. We literally lost half our class by the end. we thought she was kidding nope. It is a hard program but if you put your mind to it you will be fine. I graduated with a 3.96 gpa while being a single mom to a 1 year old.
  10. once 75 questions. took me about 45 minutes too. I started the test with the following questions are practice. so I am going along and must have missed the part where it said your test is starting. I started freaking when I got to about 50 questions thinking oh no then when it shut off at 75 I was so worried but passed; thank the lord
  11. I see that range of motion is hugely missed on a lot of patients. oral care for sure is at the top. Actually cleaning the ears with qtips and for patients who are unable cleaning the noses. I work with brain injured people and so many have crusty noses inside. It would drive me crazy to not be able to blow my nose. Turning patients every two hours/
  12. I am an LPN and I do long term care insurance assessments for lifeplans they are based out of mass but do exams accross the country. Welcome to LifePlans. It's not about risk ... it's about relationships.

  16. She has a letter to the board of nursing from the owner of the company I work for. She can never obtain a license in nh from the board of nursing. The police came that night and she is charged with criminal mischief for breaking the phone. The police told us that since we dont know she intentionally hit us with the door that we couldnt charge her with battery. and her saying she is going to kill us we can charge her with assault. Of course in my area they have had 7 stabbings in the last week so our case is on the back burner. I teach in a building till 11pm no security guard. Did call for police escort called 45 minutes before we were leaving. 1 hour went by no police so that didnt work either. I am looking into a restraining order. My work is just like oh nothings going to happen dont worry still teach the classes. Ithank you all for answering me. Dorie
  17. Hi I have been teaching since april and had to fail my first student last week. She did not pass the clinical portion. She would leave people wet not wash them when changing ect. When she was told she wasnt going to pass she became angry which I can comprehend. What I cant comprehend is what she did next. she picked up my cell phone threw it at me broke into many pieces when it hit the wall. slammed the door into the other teacher and told the other students that she was going to kill those bi++++s. The police were called and she now has a no trespass order. She was seen driving around the classroom twice hours later. When I got my new cell phone I had an anonymous message telling me to watch my back bit++ Now I am having semi panic attacks when going to class. Im afraid to get out of my car afraid to go out to my car when class is over. I was grocery shopping and was hyperventilating thinking what if she is here. I am basically scared. Im rationally telling myself that nothing is going to happen. That she wont do anything. But Im still scared because you hear stories of people who do crazy things. Im not sure how to get over this. any help would be appreciated.
  18. I would look up by category to start with, lots of BP meds, glaucoma meds diabetic meds, cardiac meds, bowel meds,
  19. I went to school at st joes in nashua nh I had lots of memorable teachers. It was the hardest thing Ive ever done but so worth it. Mrs Moran was so incredible when lecturing she was so full of energy and incredible she would yell out BINGO when someone got something right. Mrs Curtis scared the heck out of people because she was tough but boy did I learn from her. She is missed she passed from breast cancer. Mrs Flynn god I still love her. she was such an inspiration and made me feel like I could do it all. Mrs Knight was the kindest and one of the best nurses I have ever met. I really learned from her. Mrs Smith was so tough but god so good. I miss them all.
  20. there are people from every race that are racist against some other race. It is a very sad world we live in when people are prejudiced each other based on looks, weight, race, hair color, religion ect. We can only control what we think and what we do. When someone says something derogatory against another person I have no problem speaking up and letting them know that I do not like it appreciate it or will I tolerate it. My child is half-white half-black but 100% human. it is pretty sad world when someone actually takes the time out of their day and puts forth the effort to hurt someone elses feelings and say hateful things to another person.
  21. would like peoples opinions of this school. honest opinions
  22. Im in NH I am making 20$ an hour. I work in a home like setting for people who have had brain injuries. we only have 11 patients. we also have 4 or 5 lnas on the 7-3 shift and 3 or 4 lnas on the 3-11 shift.
  23. during one night at the er we had an elderly lady come in from the nursing home. She had fallen and fractured her wrist. I assisted the doc by providing countertraction as he attempted to realign her wrist. He was pulling at her wrist and all of a sudden all the skin from her elbow down came down and over her hand. her skin had turned inside out. It was awful I can still hear her screaming
