  1. i passed!!!!!! thank god!!!
  2. feeling the same way, i took the nclex-rn yesterday and stopped at 86 questions. i also did not get many sata as i was told that they were testing pretty hard on those. i am really worried because i did not feel confident at all. i thought i was prepared, but was deeply humbled by the nclex. well, all i can do now is keep believing that god will make my dream of working as an rn a reality.
  3. hi! the waiting list is two years for rn, but they have started this evening & weekend program and they come at night. i am on the rn track, but i heard that those who start on the lpn track get in quicker. i am in the 4th semester and not to scare you off, but the nursing program there is really difficult. i think that if someone would have told me to weigh my options and look at other surrounding schools i would, not to discourage you, but if you decide to attend, then be well prepared.
  4. hello, it's been a while since i replied to this site. you are speaking nothing but the truth when you say that it get's easier. i am in the 4th semester now. how far along are you? i have mrs. chaplin( it has it's ups and downs). back to studying. test in the am!
  5. congrats on getting into the program! i heard about the evening program starting next semester it will be interesting to see how that turns out. a friend of mine will be going evenings as well. any tips....study and study all the time! clinicals testing is unlike any that you have had thus far. they are not cut and dry, it's all scenerios.there could be 4 perfectly good answers, but you will need to choose the "best" one and it's not how you think, you have to think like instructors.also memorizing does not work here. you need to "know" the info. if at all possible try to make b's or above in the beginning so that you will not be stressed out come final. don't stress to hard if you make c's though,it's quite common as it was for me. also prepare to not hang out as much because nursing will consume your life! don't wait till test time to study, it's too much info all at once. get your books early, i think it was 12 books we bought this semester($500-600), and start looking over them. during clinical day be prepared and try to organize your time well so that you have time to complete data tools(care plans, assessment sheets your instructor has you to turn in at end of clinical day).who do you have? i had joan campbell(sweet) and fournier( not so sweet)! anyway good luck and know that you can get through it!
  6. hello, just finished 1st semester which seemed to be alot to take in. what should i expect from 2nd semester and does it get harder? thanks in advance!
  7. as a young mother, i was also told that i should give my baby up for adoption or have an abortion. all along, i was totally against it and felt as if everyone was against me.even though i was young, i realized my mistake and i loved the wonderful life that grew inside of me. it was not at all about property, it was all about love.how many of you regret having the children that you have? just because you are young doesn't make it any different.everyone makes mistakes and it is not fair to judge people. don't get me wrong, i don't recomend teen pregnancy and know that it is a very challenging experience, but everyone who has had a child at a young age is not doomed to poverty as proven in my experience. i grew up in a good home and my parents were one of the ones who didn't want me to keep the baby, but i made the choice to keep him. i got a job and did not party all the time or gave him to my mother to take care of all the time. she did help me out alot of the time, and god bless, but when i was home and not in school, i took care of him and learned to become the resposible parent that i am today. i am a living witness that you can make it and adoption choices depend on the individual and should not be some sort of generalized thing. i know that in some circumstances, it shoud be the best thing, but it is not our place to judge anybody. leave that for god to do.
  8. i just finished my first semester (fundamentals) and will be going inti med/surg next semester. any tips would be appreciated.thanks in advance!
  9. i agree with the last post, but know that patients have the right to refuse any treatment. try to talk with the patient about the consequences, and if they still refuse do not give it to them and of course document everything.
  10. hello. i started the program this past semester. yes you will not have a life and yes in my experience, it has been stressful, and yes it can be done. my advise to you would be to study and study all the time. i also would advise you to know the info and not memorize as each test builds on the other. nursing is very challenging in that the tests are not cut and dry, they are scenarios and you will need to know the best answer(not what you think). also try to do well early on tests so you won't be as stressed out during finals as i was. as for right now, just relax and enjoy your free time and stop waisting precious energy on being nervous(save it for class)! you can and will do well so just believe in yourself.
  11. you got b's how about c's with the exception of one b this semester. when i first started clinical this semester, i used to beat myself up about my grade and how others are doing as opposed to me. remember grades do not make the person. hands on i was excellent.it's the tests that got me. one thing that made me feel alot better was my instructor saying "c = rn".
  12. hello, i think we are in the same boat. i will be atking med/surg in the spring. i too am somewhat concerned how next semester is going to be because i felt this one was hard. just go into it with a positive attitude and know that you can and will get through it, though it is not going to be easy.good luck!
  13. hello all. i am currently enrolled in the rn program and have just completed my first semester of clinical. i was offered a job as a tech in iicu,on the weekends, which i did accept. any advise on working in this unit will be helpful because i've heard that this can be an intense environment and i am a bit nervous.
  14. i am from columbia, sc and attending midlands technical college! starting med/surg in the spring!
