  1. Anything worth having is hard and you have to work really hard. I am not sure how much time you are putting in your studies. Everyone has given you good advice but I will tell you this, if you are not disciplined with your studies right now, it will be hard to break those habits later and chances of getting into Nursing school will even be harder. Good luck with everything!
  2. I have been afraid this might be my son. He will be turning 6 in January and his ability to not sit still, always stimulated and no personal space boundaries has been worrying me. We let him start first grade this year and I am worried sick already since his new teacher has already requested a meeting with us. Sigh. Being that we are now in Canada their system is different from the US and everything happens at a snails pace especially when it comes to specialist appointments. I would rather know if something is wrong, get the appropriate treatment and make sure he is doing well than guessing as to what might be wrong. It doesn't help that his dad, Kindergarten teacher last year don't think he needs an evaluation. We have gone through a lot with my sweet boy. First it was not being able to speak till he was three due to all the ear infections and it wasn't until I changed Drs he got his tubes placed and after some extensive speech therapy he caught up with his peers and doing well. As a mom, I am always scared of just how far I am willing to go in regards to him being medicated. Thanks for sharing your story. Will see how our meeting with the teacher goes and we will go from there.
  3. I don't want to jump to conclusions so I will ask you, why Canada? I find it difficult to believe that you are just all of a sudden interested in applying to Canadian programs and go through the nuisances of obtaining a study visa and then coming back tot he US. BTW I am a US Citizen but I live in Canada. I will be applying to a program here but I will tell you that US schools are on top of my list. I would advise you to please do your research before going this route. Good luck!
  4. I would advice you to do a search on the site about your questions. There a lot of threads on these two schools and a lot of advice that could help you:) Good luck!
  5. I am not a nurse but one of my supervisors is so stupid that he never wants to believe something is really wrong with you. Last year when my husband called my work that my dad had suddenly died, he wanted me to send in a death certificate to prove that it actually happened. WTH!!! I couldn't believe it. He kept on calling me a week later asking when I will be back. Sigh. Unfortunately, am still at this job. A few weeks ago I had to have surgery and was in the hospital for a few days, guess who kept calling and texting to find out why am off work? Mind you all the paperwork was sent to HR and they knew why I was gone but I had asked them to NOT tell this particular supervisor as to why I was off work since he has verbal diarrhea. HR was so upset with him when they found out he had been asking me why am off work. Some people are just beyond help and he's one of them.
  6. Hello! I figured it would be a good idea to start a thread for 2016. I am so nervous about applying but so excited about starting nursing school next year. My situation is a little unique. I am also applying to two schools in the US for the Accelerated BSN/MSN programs and not sure if that is a good idea since I will come back here anyways. Leaving my kids and husband for 21 months is so hard so hence my reason for applying to U of A. I will be retaking my Micro and Physiology to get As and not Bs. I just want to make sure I am competitive enough since my degree and pre-reqs are from the US. All the best to everyone!!
  7. Sandy so you already have applied for next year? Does U of A do early decision admissions?
  8. I think a Facebook page is only for those students who have been accepted and most of them are closed groups. Have you done all your pre-reqs? What is your undergraduate degree in?
  9. We should start a 2016 thread for some of us who will be applying next year so that we can encourage each other. My degree is from the US in Communications. I will have to retake my Microbiology and Physiology to get an A so that I am very competitive. What are you undergraduate degrees in? And does anyone know how many people are accepted for the After Degree program in Edmonton?
  10. This is why I hound your posts all the time. I wish I knew you irl. You motivate me and no I am not a creep:)
  11. You are 26, you can wait till you are done with nursing school to get pregnant or get pregnant a few months before you are done. My children are 11 and 5 and I would love to have another one but there is no way am willing to do that before school.
  12. Really? It did for me. No, I did not go gluten free for weight loss but that was the added bonus. I have to add, a lot of the gluten free stuff has a lot of calories than the regular foods, so maybe pay close attention to that:)
  13. I have no advice but I wish you all the best. Please take everyones advice to heart and get some help. Please.
  14. I know its another week but oh well. I learned my playing around in Undergrad and not being serious might have serious consequences as I apply to Nursing school next year. I am so disappointed in myself even though I know I am capable of being an A student. And NO, I would not want to be young again and get B's and C's. Call me naive but I think my stubbornness and determination will get me accepted . Off to write a GREAT personal statement.
  15. Congratulations! If you do a search on here you will find a lot of advice from people who went this route. Good luck.
  16. For goodgrief: Am on my phone so I can't quote you. You would be a nightmare for any preceptor or a headache as a perceptee. I can't even take you seriously with your elitist attitude. Just because you got a BSN from some so called University then you are way better than a college graduate? And why were you taking Organic Chemistry for Nursing? Are you not a Medical School dropout? I don't believe a thing you say about this so called Nursing School but correct me if am wrong.
  17. Every decision you make now will have lifetime consequences. The so called cute boy you met isn't meant for you and is just bad news. Listen to your parents they usually know what's best for you. Not going to Nursing School because some of your high school classmates have failed is not a good enough reason not to try. You are smarter than you think. Follow through with everything you start and make sure you finish it. Not everyone will see your vision but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. Choose your friends wisely they can make or break you. Time waits for no one so use it wisely. It's can be hard to go to school after you are married and with kids.
  18. Off topic but I really, really LOVE your signature.
  19. I would suggest looking at schools that are holistic with their admissions. Are you willing to move? side note: funny how people are quick to assume that you must have failed science courses to have a low GPA:yawn:
  20. Congratulations! Is your background in the IT?
  21. Oh man the Internet ate my post! Maybe just as well because I was going to go all in on you.
