To take a rehab/SNF RN job or wait it out for acute care in Sacramento... UGH! What to do
I don't know what TOS is... But when someone says "speak english" when someone is speaking in english, it just feels like a personal attack. He or she could've said "please dont type as if u are texting", i would have gladly changed my way of typing rather than reading comments that are unnecessary.

Sounds like a personal problem. I posted in english and i am using my phone to respond. I don't think i should apologize for using short cuts when typing. No need for bullying.

Ask for advice (then explain why it's wrong)
Yes, you have a great point. Although if i personally see that it was a vent post, i would be more inclined to ignore the post or maybe say "i understand how that might feel, i hope u feel better soon!" ;-)

Feeling defeated
Sometimes it takes a few months before a new nurse could get used to the groove of acute care nursing. Depending on how long u've been practicing at ur hospital, how u are feeling is normal. However, i have also seen nurses with a lot of experience on their backs (non-hospital) who were unhappy with acute care due to the same reasons u have stated. I hope you feel better soon!

The nurses that gave u advice have given great opinions and should give u enough wisdom... U are just not receptive to what they are telling u. Do whatever makes u happy but be prepared for the consequences. You are clearly just looking for someone to agree with ur decision and not offer their insight.

Feeling Uneasy - Did I Pick the Right Program?
I'm a little confused with the whole situation... So r u in a BSN program at the private school? Also, my student loans got deferred when they found out that i am in school again for my Master's. So you should inquire about this by calling your loan provider. Anyway, i won't waste any time telling you what u should've done since it sounds like it's now too late for that. Stick to what u have already planned unless you don't think it's gonna work out. You said u will have $22,000 in student loans by the time you graduate. Just FYI, i was an international student and since I'd like to get quality education in the US, I ended up with $46,000 in student loans when I gruated from BSN. I think u should reevaluate your priorities. If finishing school is your priority and there is no other way to pay for school but student loans, then you have to get over these uneasy feelings and prepare for your impending loan repayment. Good luck!

Ask for advice (then explain why it's wrong)
Then maybe they should warn us somewhere in their post that they are not looking for advice... They just want to vent? We are adults here, no need to play mind games. Because it's really annoying to see someone asking for advice then be defensive if they do not like what they hear.

CNA impersonating RN
Did u actually see "RN" on her name badge? If not, then the whole story is gossip until u have any evidence. I won't contact the BON unless u have proof that this person is really breaking any law or BON regulations. CA BON is already busy dealing with so many things... I would not worsen the situation if there is no proof. Now, if it was abuse-related, then nurses are mandated to report the abuse even with no proof. If I am really bothered by this, I would personally visit this person at school and confirm the accusations. You could also call the school.

Wait, what the what ?!
Are we thinking about the same FDA i know? Food and Drug Adminstration? Haha! Checking blood glucose on a baby's heel is not food or drug related. The statement claimed just doesn't make sense... Next time tell them you'd like to see where it's written in your hospital policy "so u can familiarize urself with this (ridiculous) policy".

challenges international nurses face in securing a job in USA or canada
I live in San Diego and we are currently saturated with new grad RNs who can't find jobs as a nurse. They have to work as CNAs for now. I personally know 2 new grads who do not have jobs. Sometimes foreign nurses are considered new grads but the circumstances may have changed.

challenges international nurses face in securing a job in USA or canada
You have to pass the NCLEX... Along with having the other meticulous requirements (cgfns, employment authorization documents, job offer, etc.) at least in the USA. Unless you are already here with legal status, then u may be able to get rid of the other requirements but u still need to pass the nclex. Good luck!

Do Nurses Work Several Per Diem Jobs?
Yes you can! Also, make sure that per diem is what you would like to do. I absolutely love being per diem and being a travel/float nurse... Some nurses hate that though. Good luck!

Unresponsive vs. unconscious
You have to assume that all the information you need to answer a question are included in the question. Why is an HHNC patient unresponsive? The question did not say anything about the patient's oxygen saturation or airway compromise. Do not overthink. I agree with your definition of unresponsive vs. unconsious though.

Why choose FNP (family nurse practitioner)
Then maybe you should've done FNP as ur primary focus then get a Psych certificate after if the need to know about primary care is needed. As a graduating FNP student, i have been exposed to more than 30 common illnesses in primary care. Although i am not an expert in all of them, it's hard to see other nurses from other specialties who clearly doesn't have any idea about the FNP coursework and yet felt the need to comment that we are not adequately prepared for the role. I agree with the other members stating that u shouldn't treat UTI if your in the psych role. Even cardiologists refer patients back to their primary for a high blood pressure (not really sure why). Treat what's within your scope of practice, be safe than sorry.

How do I contact the CA BRN
I don't think the nurses that replied to u were in any way rude. But this post u just posted with all the capslock in it truly seems rude... Net-tiquette is not new. We understand ur upset but no need to be rude OP!

Please help me (depression)!!!!
Why are u depressed/stressed out if u did the online program? You are definitely not alone, i'm enrolled in an online program. Online schools are not less reputable compared to traditional schools. Online schools are there to assist working professionals and schools are rarely used to measure ur skills or competence as an NP. There are other definite ways to assess your NP skills and competence (certification exams, interview, grades, recommendations, etc)

Nervous to take AANP again
Not passing the test at this time is not a measure of whether your decision to go to NP school was right or wrong. That's why these exams could be taken a number of times because they know that failing the test could be related to multiple factors (comprehension, anxiety, test-taking skills, etc). You graduated from NP school whete u passed all the exams/presentations, papers, clinicals, OSPs, thesis, etc. You earned it! You wouldn't succeed if you were not gonna be a good NP. I haven't taken the exam so cant really comment on what will help u to pass it. Which review courses did u take? Many people on this site took Fitzgerald or Hollier's review classes with good results. There are other tips from other NPs regarding the exam on this website, just search. But yes, taking some time off to relax and de-stress is a good idea. Then go back to studying once you are ready. i believe you will pass as long as you are determined to succeed and devote time/effort in ur study. Good luck!

Help! I look young!
I'm also in the same boat as u OP. So in addition to what already been mentioned here, i would also recommend applying make-up on, especially eyeliner to make u look older. But i enjoy looking young right now because i definitely feel old at 29 already (tired, back/knee pains, wrinkles, exhaustion, impatient, grumpy, etc.). Enjoy the young look while it lasts :)

RN forging doc's signature
At our hospital, we have standing orders. For example, we order morphine and nitro plus ekg for pt with chest pain. We write the doctor's name (even tho he doesnt know about the chest pain and orders yet). Then we sign it too. But we have to inform the doctor within an hour per protocol. Do u know if it was your favility's protocol to order that without the physicians actual signature?

Was my professor out of line?
I am sorry but i dont agree with this comment. OP posted on a site that has professional nurses and adults as members. If u want a cheerleader, pls talk to ur friends or husband that will know u better. They would know that u are not seeking advice and they would know that they just need to tell u what u wanna hear. Or post on facebook as users there are really good at cheering other people, even if they dont have a clue regarding the situation. Maybe see a professional mental health specialist also so they could help u formulate what u need to do in cases like this when you are not receptive to others advice. Mental health is also great if you want someone to nurture ur "internal narratives". Being receptive doesnt always mean you are gonna do what was said. After all, people still do what they wanna do despite anyone's advice. BUT i don't really need OP to agree with my advice because someone thought that you are just asking for cheers rather than resolution. Being a nurse is always going to be a balancing act, if you can't do that then i am not sure if u could be a good nurse. Nurses are great multi-taskers. In the professional world of nursing, you have to be prepared for constructive criticisms. How would u make urself a better nurse professional if all u want are cheers and not be willing to listen to advice or criticisms? Again, we are all adult professionals here. Real leaders are willing to listen, improve themselves, or accept challenges. Leaders also know which advice to take and what to toss away, but no need to be defensive or tactless. End of vent. Thanks.

work 1 day week, 8 hours, is it possible?
Float pool! Loving it. U still have to deal with poop though hehe. But minus the rigid schedule, requirements, staff meetings, and personal issues that may occur at work.

Nervous to take AANP again
So sorry! I understand how that feels. Did u use the same materials u used like last time? Why do u think review them again didn't help u pass the 2nd time? Is it the book? Or is it anxiety? Not enough practice questions? Hope u feel better soon

New NP practice advice
I'd like to hear suggestions too! Thank u.
