  1. I am interested in becoming a PHN and saw an opening for an immunization PHN position and am curious what a job like that is like. What are typical days/nights like? Is it rewarding? Boring? Interesting? Is there room for career growth? Thanks!
  2. I recently got a call back for a PHN interview! I've only been working for 5 months as a nurse so I recognize that it's gonna be tough to convince them to choose me, but I want to try my hardest!! Part of the interview includes presenting a brief, no more than 3-minute, patient teaching demonstration on any health topic of my choice. I want to choose something that won't be too complicated but will also stand out. I have clinical research experience related to HIV and hepatitis C so I could do one of those, but I think because of what my job duties would be, I should gear it more towards parents or children safety. I am also allowed to use props. Does anyone have any ideas!? I really want to WOW them!
  3. Hello, I am new grad nurse who has been working in a psych hospital for the last 5 months. I am not happy with my job and there are many times that I feel the conditions where I work are unsafe (sometimes I am the only nurse on the unit for 14 patients). My goal is to become a pediatric or NICU nurse and eventually work in a clinic. I have been applying to tons of pediatric nursing jobs and almost all of them require 1-2 years experience. I have only received rejection letters or nothing...no interviews. I just recently got offered the opportunity to transition to being an ECT nurse in the same hospital I currently work at. I am thinking about taking the position but I am not very excited about it because it has nothing to do with pediatrics and it also seems very monotonous. That being said, I was wondering if you think the skills I would gain from being an ECT nurse (IV's, bagging patient, monitoring them in recovery) would look better on my resume than my current credentials of being a med nurse and sometimes the only nurse on the psych units? Thanks in advance!
  4. Did you pass? Was the PVT method correct? I tried within 2 hours of my scheduled test (I was scheduled to start the exam at 2pm but started early 45 minutes early) after receiving my completion email. I got the good pop up but now I am wondering if I did it too early.
  5. I just took the Kaplan Readiness Test and scored a 54%. I am supposed to be taking the real exam one week from today but now I'm not sure if I should postpone the date. I heard you need to score a 60% to have a chance of passing. I've done about 2000 practice questions, mostly on Uworld and I feel like I've learned so much and yet now I am thinking it's still not enough. What are your thoughts/past experiences? Is 54% too low to consider sitting in on the test next week? On Uworld I score in the 50's to low 60s.
  6. Great idea! How do we join the facebook group? It says "pending" for me
  7. ME TOOO i am in the south denver location...anyone else?!
  8. Same! I also keep coming on here to see if anyone has posted anything. I am really hoping we will know before the holidays even though they said the first or second week in January.
  9. Alisha, were you in the 9:35 interview in room 1203 by any chance?
  10. Did anyone else feel like the interview was short? I thought it was an interesting group exercise and definitely not as intimidating as I had imagined. I love that they put candy out, not that I took any, but I thought it was really sweet! Unfortunately after all the information sessions I now want to go to the school even more than I had originally wanted...is it January yet?!
  11. Just got my interview invite as well...woohoo!! I was getting so nervous. Congrats everyone!
  12. Has anyone heard anything about getting an interview today? Or were all the e-mails sent out Friday? Congrats to everyone who has been invited for an interview!
  13. Does anyone know when we can expect hear if we got an interview?
  14. I am really nervous too! I graduated with a degree in psych but have been working as a clinical research assistant for the last 5 years. Have you looked into Professional Research Assistant jobs at UC Denver on the Anschutz Medical Campus, that's where I looked when I moved here.
  15. Thank you for the information! And me too! Are you a recent graduate or working professional applying?
