Financing Nursing School - Not Sure What To Do
someone mentioned a state university which is another option to get a bsn. have you done your research on all the state schools in your area? depending on state, state university schools may be competitive too. if you were to do an adn or asn program you can always do an rn to bsn bridge program afterwards online. and online depending on how quick you finish the program you will be saving $

Nursing and Personality
I'm on the introverted side as well. I have been called out by one professor that she was worried I am too timid. I love interacting with patients though.

What do you do to volunteer and give back?
Before I considered changing my major to nursing, I volunteered at a local hospital as a concierge desk/guest ambassador and at the emergency department. Before I officially started nursing school, I volunteered at another local hospital on a nursing floor. It wasn't hands on, more like interacting with staff, visitors, family, and patients. This summer I did hospice volunteering, I was able to interact with several patients and it was a good experience.

Finished RN to BSN Program in 6 months and 1 week! Feel free to ask me anything!
For the load of work to be done is there hw/projects due every week or other week ? How many exams are there and are they spread out ? Are we allowed to use financial aid to pay for the online program or is this personal out of pocket? Thank you for replies

Finished RN to BSN Program in 6 months and 1 week! Feel free to ask me anything!
I'm a 2nd yr adn student really interested in possibly doing RN to Bsn at wgu online. The typical 8 week nursing course has alot of material that goes by quick..so how much faster paced is a course at wgu for RN to Bsn in regards to the amount of material learned and work that is being done? Is there a mentor ready to assist you when you're stuck and need help at some odd hour at late night? For example let's say a prospective applicant has passed their nclex and wants to do RN to Bsn online , how long does it take for every thing to process and actually begin the program online ? Are there documents or important paperwork that we need from the nursing program for the application ? Thank you

Night shift and clinicals
Amy, you sound like one of my classmates whom I kind of know. He worked a lot. he would go straight to work after clinical (we had night clinical for med surg) and meet us in the morning for lecture at 8. you guys work really hard and I'm sure it will work out. Just remember to take care of yourself!

Study tips?
Don't try to read every little itty bitty in the book, it's too much for too little time. study what you need to know and put that knowledge into working use. download nclex apps onto your phone it will become handy. You can buy books too, a good series is the success books by Davis. stop and read the rationale of why something is wrong and right. it may seem time consuming to do so many nclex questions but it's time spent well.

How early in your last year did you apply for the hospital job? Was it months before or weeks before graduation? Was this at the same hospital you did your externship?

2016 RN to BSN online programs, need help!
For those who went or are currently going to wgu, do you recommend others to? Is there a health practicum or project where you seek a health care provider and do so something community based and was there plenty of time to complete that? thanks

Med Surg course dilemma
Does your program have a list of courses and their prereqs that are recommended? Have you spoken to your peers who have already completed this portion? I have not heard of such options before. I also had to take med surg 1 then med surg 2 and following that I took pediatrics and maternity together. Med surg is a different kind of park compared to OB, they don't really go hand in hand. It would be a better combo to do Peds and maternity than med surg with one or another.

RN-BSN-- WGU?
Is there any health projects for wgu that require you to go out into the community and find a Heath care provider and do something? Was it difficult and do you have plenty of time to complete that project?

How did you pass nursing school
Are you doing rn to bsn online or by going to class?

Prerequisites or TEAS first?
You don't want to take the teas test blindly and take it to see how it goes. sometimes programs only consider your first teas score, so you should take it seriously from the first attempt. I've heard from time and time again that you should take prereqs, complete them , study for the teas and take the actual test. How long you study for the test is subjective and up to you, you take it when you feel prepared and comfortable.

Can you be pregnant in nursing school?
Congratulations on your acceptance and baby on the way. I just finished up my first year out of a 2 yr program and someone from our cohort got pregnant during the 2nd half of the 1st year and I believe she delivered after our finals. I don't think you should wait out for next fall due to your pregnancy.

Need Help with OB/PEDS pls
Highly encourage doing as much nclex questions as possible pertaining to what you learn in class. When you are reading just focus on what you need to know for class . I just finished OB/Peds in late May ending my 1st ADN year and it was a heck of a class.

Do your teachers round up grades?
I believe my professors did but only if it was 5 or up if it was below 5 they didn't round. And the rounding wasn't suppose to help make you pass the nursing course.
