  1. (((((((((((((((Meg)))))))))))))) Will be keeping you in Prayer. Giant Hugs! MryRose
  2. NEWSFLASH....... I did not write the original post.... it was an ARTICLE of interest posted here, written elsewhere. I do, however, have the right to respond with my opinion. We will not agree on the union issue as I feel unions reps are elected by the majority of union members..... thus giving them a voice. My low opinon of the governator, has been duly earned. His opinon about Nursing and Teachers, and the unions that represent him, has been widely publicized. He is NOT supporting Nurses and Teachers and I will NOT be supporting him for ANY cause. If you wish to believe that he does not have influence in this cause, then that is certainly your right. I believe otherwise, and there is NO amount of debating that will change my mind. So back to the original programming......
  3. Hmmmm.... I didn't think I sounded angry or upset...... I do think that Ahhnold is not acting in the best interest of the people of the state of CA, in which I reside. In my opinion, to which I am allowed, Ahnold has taken a very public opinion against teachers and nurses. The article posted is not the first bit of info I have read on the subject. Our household gets mail frequently on from the governator (we live in CA). and my husbands Union.... I read it all, call me informed. Perhaps you might want to do a little more research about the Ahnold on your own.
  4. Thank you. I am excited to apply. Wow... A&P 2 and Micro during the summer.... whew... that's one heck of a load. You can do it! Hugs! MaryRose
  5. Congrats for all the great grades!! Another semester down. wooooo hoooo! I am happy to report that I received an A in microbiology and Physiology. Wow.... I'm actually going to apply to nursing school now.... it's almost unbeleivable. Now I have to hope the lottery fairy likes me and picks me for the Spring 06 program. Have a great summer everyone! Hugs ! Mary
  6. WOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOO!! Congrats!!!! I am Partying with ya!!!! I finished Microbio with an A on my final (92%) and an A in the Class!!! I am sooo excited! Phys was pretty good too.... I figure I got a B on my lab final (mostly essay) and I think I got an A on my lecture. It was pretty intense for Finals... both back to back. I am soooo glad that is over! Tomorrow I find out my overall grade...... pretty sure it will be good. Hoping to have an A in that class too. Now I finally get to apply to Nursing School!!!
  7. I agree with you about not being a nursing narc partrol member.... lol heck who would have the time??? lol I was referring to the OP's situation. Some substances are just too dangerous to have weekend and day off playtime with. Heroine and Cocaine wold be two that immediately come to mind. I have to agree with you on the doobie smoking. I know people who have a little every blue moon or so.... without apparent long term effects. But the habitual smokers that I've seen are shy a few brain cells. Me..... I'll settle for a beer every once in awhile.... I like to relax but not get anywhere near drunk . Tho I have to admit that last year I did have 3 beers and sang kareoke..... will my sins ever end???:chuckle MaryRose Hugs to ya Z!
  8. I strongly disagree. How would you feel if you knew this person had a history of using illegal drugs and something happened to a patient?? We have to have some responsibility for what the information we obtain (Granted it must be accurate and not some rumormill hearsay). Maybe when she worked with you she appeared competent..... but out of your sight was not. If you want to mess with illegal substances then you have issues that need attending to and should not be caring for patients until you can get help. I certainly would not want to find out that the staff caring for my family was using Illegal drugs on their off time. This also applies to those who abuse alcohol. I know of many "functional alcoholics" who may seem "normal"..... but I would not want them responsible for my patients. Sure they haven't had their alcohol yet, waiting to get drunk after work.... but their system is craving it and it does affect their body. With patient acutity as it is, do you really want to sign off on work done by someone who might be impaired???:stone just my honest opinion. Mary Rose PS..... there is a great difference from being a functional alcoholic to having a drink after work with friends... I'm not trying to infer that at all.
  9. I think it would depend on your individual program. I'm applying to one that is a lottery based application and the other from gpa. So while it would make a difference in one, it wouldn't in the other. Can you go to the school you wish to attend and speak to someone in the nursing department? Take a print out of your grades, current gpa and ask them what this does for your application. Best to find out form the source. Best wishes! Hugs! MaryRose
  10. Congrats!!!!:balloons: Awesome news..... hope you get your first choice, and in any case... you get to start for the next step in this great adventure! Hugs! MaryRose
  11. Nurturing each other was what I had in mind with this post.... but there were only three respondants. https://allnurses.com/forums/showthread.php?t=101879 It would be nice if more nurses (and the people they have to work with) wanted to have a supportive environment. I'm beginning to think that nurses want to complain and hope someone else will makes the changes. It would take so little for there to be a difference..... as was stated earlier.... one shift, one floor or even one person can make a change. You have to work thru the shift anyway...... wouldn't it be a whole lot easier if you had a supportive team around you? Hugs! MaryRose
  12. Sorry about your loss too. Thanks for understanding..... it gets better as time goes on. Hugs! MaryRose
  13. Way to go!!! Congrats on your graduation and new job. That is a great accomplishment! Hugs! MaryRose
  14. Not that you don't have a problem with your program, but I do not see any race issues in this complaint. It sounds like across the board it's difficult. To the OP: I agree that racism should not be tolerated. Should the course or instructor refer to anything of that nature, you should have recourse. Possibly contact the ACLU for advise. Unfortunately, grading can be subjective and it would be better to have an agency that is well versed to back you. It's difficult to know how the administration would react. Posting more information would give us a better idea of how to help you. In the meantime, hang in there!!! Do not let them win.... get your RN and be a role model for others.:) Hugs! MaryRose
  15. ((((((((((((Jenn)))))))))). I declined going to an autopsy this past week myself as I could not get past the thought of my Dad's autopsy even tho it has been a few years. This was option to attend for physiology class. Is an autopsy mandatory for ADN??? Honestly I am not sure how I will handle it if it is. I can deal with deqath, but seeing the body handled like that would freak me out too. Hugs to ya Jen! MaryRose
