Jobless in Portland
I currently live in Texas, but originally from Portland, Oregon. I moved here because of a job. Graduated in 2009 just like you and wasn't able to find any job in Portland/Vancouver area. So I applied everywhere from Alaska to Florida. I terribly miss my home, Portland, but I've got a family to support. I think I did the right thing.

Moving to San Antonio
I am renting a house in medical center area, zip78240, 3bed, 2.5bath, $1100/month. I would recommend to contact a local realtor finding a rental property. You shouldn't have any problem finding a rental home with your budget. I'm also recently relocated to SA because of nursing job. Welcome to SA!

Moving to San Antonio......advice on hospitals
I'll be starting my new RN job at Baptist Medical Center in March. and pay is $21.00 plus shift differential. Kinda low, but I'm so happy to find the position. FYI, I will be moving down to SA next week from Oregon. You shouldn't have any problem find the job down in SA. and I have heard Santa R. are the best among others.:)

Still looking..
It's really hard to find a RN job as a new grad. I'm thinking of moving out of state which I really don't want to do. I work at some clinics PRN basis, but I don't think I can work there too long. SO SAD...T.T

Kaplan overall qbank score
I just took the board and passed with 75 questions. I mainly used Kaplan's Qbank/Qtrainer with 57% on average. (the score was varied from 48% to 72%) My advice is that take about 2-3 wks to do all the Qbanks/Qtrainers until you get at least of mid-50% range. I was pretty confident when taking the exam and it wasn't that bad than I expected. Keep doing about 150 questions a day and carefully go over all the rationales. You should be fine! Good luck!

Pearsonvue Trick Is this TRUE? Does it work every time?
It worked for me. 7/16, 8:00am-NCLEX-RN test at 8 am got out at 10 am with 75 questions 6 SATA, no math, no ob, mostly priority/infection control and community health nursing 7/16, 12:00pm-did Pearsonvue trick with status "Delivery Successful", pop-up came up didn't let me go to credit card page 7/17, 5:00pm-checked BON (Oregon) thru their website, and I saw MY precious NAME with license number I was going to pay to see the quick result tomorrow, but BON updated my info so quickly (I saved $8.00 ^^) I prepared to study about 3 weeks, "Mainly" used KAPLAN (live course), it was expensive but I'm so glad that I took the course. I did all the Qbank, Question Trainer with about ave. 57% :typing:typingPlease focus studying on infection control and endocrine conditions.

Best Organizational Tip For Surviving Nursing School
I keep my planner handy all the time and write down everything on the same planner. I tried palm, but writing down manually works the best. Surviving from nursing school=having excellent organization skill.

To Flu Shot or Not??
um....I don't think that's true. I cannot believe the nurse said that. Flu vaccine will not make the person sick after getting it, unless the person is allergic to egg.
-
ATI or Kaplan?
My school also uses ATI and I don't think it's helpful for preparing nclex. I might have to try Kaplan even though it costs alot. I think my nursing textbooks are the great resources.

Who got an A on their final...
ours we have no grading system, either pass or no pass...which is scary for me. but some students think it is much better than getting letter grades well...i passed this term, that's all that matter to me.
