  1. please any suggestions or guesses! Thanks anyone for some help!!
  2. I am a student nurse. I cannot find where to research JCAHO standards. I know of the website www.thejointcommission.org but I cannot find the answer to my question. What does JCAHO state regarding the wearing of gloves during preparation of oral medications? Where can I find the answer to this and any other questions I would have regarding JCAHO standards? Thank-you!
  3. I am a nursing student about to graduate in December. I recently was on a clinical round in the CVICU. I was able to speak with a PA who was helping the cardiac surgeons. She was preparing patients, checking charts, opening, closing, and assisting during surgery. My impression was that a PA has vast opportunities. I would imagine that compensation would also match the level of responsibility she had achieved. If I had the time in life to become a PA, I would have considered that an excellent choice! However, I am very excited about graduating soon as well
  4. BumblebeeRN, How do your clinical hours work, or do you have clinical hours? Thanks!
  5. Oh that's so funny! I am sitting here in front of my books for January convincing myself to do some other things today besides tearing into them! I just finished finals yesterday.... (I will tear into them this afternoon ......) We can slowly take ourselves off the "study habit" and perhaps by the holidays we can spend an entire day without studying... But I would not bet on it!
  6. I would read all of my notes once a day. In one pile I would place the notes I "knew." In the other pile I would place the notes I needed to review more. Then, I would look over those notes I did not know that day and continue to place the notes I mastered into to "I know this" pile. The next morning, put all the papers back together and start again. By Monday, take the things you don't "know" yet and start writing them out, and saying them out loud. Spend every second you can on it, enlist the help of the people around you so they can see how much you need to get done, they might help or see they need to leave you alone to reach your goal. Good Luck!!
  7. I will be starting Nursing School in Jan 09 (yay!) I went to get my immunizations in order. When I asked about the flu shots, the nurses in the office said not to get it, it made them all sick. What do you think? Should we get flu shots or not?
  8. Don't give up! I got my acceptance letter yesterday. I know of others who have also received their acceptance letters but most likely will NOT be able to attend due to life changes. There WILL be alternates who get in the January program. The letter you posted makes it sound like you are first on the alt list. You may want to ask at the Heath Services Office what place you are on the list. Best of luck and never, never give up!
  9. GPA's Program: 3.78 Overall (not used for admissions) 3.51
  10. Just got my letter and I'm in!!!
  11. Wow... yes today is the closing date for applications! I am also holding my breath now for the acceptance letter. I can't even think of what to do if I didn't get in at this point. I'll post back when I hear.. right now a week or two seems VERY FAR OFF!! Good Luck!!
  12. Do you know if in the Broward program a nursing student attends the first half of two summer sessions? I can't figure out how they get all of those classes into 18 months? I have applied for the Jan 2009 session. Would you know which classes would be taken in the Winter 09, First half summer 09, Fall 09, and then winter 10? Do you know if there will be a class for the first half of summer 10? Just curious if anyone knows:)
  13. Well no, I specifically asked that because I was in the same situation. I went to the question/answer session in May and asked the Assoc. Dean in person about taking the class in the Fall after I turned in my application, but starting the course before the close of the deadline. She told me I could show I was enrolled to be able to apply, but since I had not completed the course, I would be put in line behind those who had - she said that would not be fair to those who had it completed. Now, the deadline application for Broward has been extended to October 24th to include three pending HCP0130 classes which do not end until late October. Those students will be able to complete the course then apply with a completed class. So I hauled myself down to Miami Dade each Saturday all summer long to get the class done...
  14. Regarding HCP0130.... when I went to the question/answer session with Assoc. Dean Bonnie Dones I was told you do not HAVE to have HCP0130 done prior to application, but it will affect your place in line if you do not have it done yet. You will be put behind the people who DO have it completed....
