Have you ever..........
WOW! Very well put. I will definitely take all the advices that has been given to me. I feel a whole lot better from this morning. Our OB/Peds teachers are going to be sending out a study guide for us to use as a study guide for the final exam. I thank the Lord for that, because they don't have to do this. They state that this will be the material on the final. Again that's alot and I'm going in ALL the way. I have a graduation to prepare for.:loveya: God bless you and again thanks!

Instructor from hell fails me in clinical!
Camelia Davis, all I can say is WOW! Very well put. Being a nurse is MUCH more than a pay check or the money is good. I believe that it's a divine call by God. I never looked at it as a ministry but come to think of it, that's exactly what it is. I haven't experienced the things such as CI hating me for some unknown reason, but my experience deals with how do I understand and comprehend the material that I'm studying in order to pass these test. My instructors keep saying you must be a critical thinker. Do you become a critical thinker overnight? I'm in my 3rd semester, having to repeat Med-Surg II and the battle was feeling worthless, am I really called to be a nurse and self defeat. I felt like crawling into my own little hole and just weep. The battle can come in the form of CI, your fellow classmates, your teachers, your self or your mind. You are right, a battle between good and evil. Awesome postage. I really enjoyed reading your reply. Good luck to all. I'm often reminded that the word of God says, "Greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world". Hold on!

Have you ever..........
Good morning all.:loveya: I find this website to be very helpful and encouraging. I'm trying not to beat myself up about the test I just failed on yesterday. Have you ever gone to take a test, really felt good about it and then when you get the test back, to your dissappointment, you failed? Well this is how I felt on yesterday. In my heart of hearts I knew that I passed this test. I am forever studying and it's not like the test are extremely hard. I don't know whether I'm retaining what I'm learning or what. I'm in my 3rd semester and sometimes I feel like can I really do this. I need to make an 84 on my final in order to pass this class. Since yesterday I've been repeating in my mind over and over again about how did I not pass this test. I believe that being a nurse is a special calling and everyone can't be a nurse. I'm like God, what is going on here! In my heart of hearts I know that I'm a nurse but the struggle sometimes seems to be so hard. Others seem to go through this course with a breeze. They can study the night before and pass. I can't do that. I have to start studying 2 weeks or more before the test. It's just that where it comes easy to others, I'm really struggling to really get the whole concept of everything. Should I be a critical thinker by the 3rd semester or will this come with time? I have one more class to take to get my LPN license and two more semesters to get my RN license. I want this soooo bad and it's like I'm right at the brink and it's slipping away from me. As I type this I'm getting teary eyed:cry: because I really desire to be a nurse not because of the money but because I love people and love to help people. In two weeks I would love to come to this site and give my testimony of how I passed this class. Our finals are in two weeks. Anyone that will and can pray, I solicit your prayers and I thank you so much. God bless you!:loveya:

Health Problems for new born babies
Hi, I have to put down 3 potential heath problems for a newborn baby born by c-section. I have come up with two: impaired fetal gas exchange related to maternal hypertension, risk for infection and I can't think of another one. Most of babies born by c-section could have respiratory problems. Any more suggestions? Thanks!

Fluid and Electrolytes! Help please!
I've been studying fluid and electrolytes for a test that is coming up real soon. I'm confused as to when to give a patient isotonic, hypotonic or hypertonic solutons. I believe the test is going to be more of application than anything. How can you really study for an application test? Many of the electrolytes mimic each other or is the recipocal of the other. For example, if you have a high phophorous, you will have a low calcium. I really need to past this first test and all of your suggestions and advices will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

What to expect during clinicals
For me it was a big, big learning experience. I would be so tired once I left the nursing home. So much that you are learning and it can seem overbearing at times but by and by you will get the hang of it. My big challenge was, as simple as it may sound, making up a bed while the patient is in it. Oh my goodness. I thought I would never learn that skill. This is an exciting time and much to be learned but I believe you will be just fine. Take your time and learn all that you can and stay focus. The nursing home is demanding but you will learn so much. Good luck to you and remember stay focused! God bless.:)-

What does it mean by special related needs for the middle age adult?
Yes, according to Erikson. I put in the wrong question. It suppose to say, Identify special health related needs for the middle age adult? Sorry about that. Is this question talking about some of the diseases that affect the middle age adult?

What does it mean by special related needs for the middle age adult?
Question? I'm doing a project on the middle age adult and one of the questions I must address says, Identify special health related needs for someone in this age group? I came up with hypertension, coronary artery disease, stroke, various kinds of cancer, asthma, impaired vision and hearing, AIDS, obesity, arthritis, and osteoporosis. Did I answer this question correct? Also what kind of interventions can I do as a nurse to assist the middle age adult? Thanks for any type of help!

Fluid and Electrolytes: What should you know about it
I'm hearing of the horror stories of the F&E tests from different people. What is really the meat of F&E that pertains to patients or s/s or causes? Thanks!

Fluids and Electrolytes
Hello everyone! We are studying fluides and electrolytes this semester and it's very hard. Can anyone help me with the name that baby in acid base. I have one baby who's pH is 7.31 (low), PaCO2 is normal, PaO2 101 (high), and Bicarbonate 20 (low). What's this baby's name? My other baby pH is 7.47 (high), PaCO2 33 (low), PaO2 102 (high) and Bicarbonate normal. What's this baby's name? I know that both isn't respiratory or metabolic. I think they both are compensating but I don't have enough supporting information to prove that it's compensating. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Question?
Hello, I am sorry to be such a bother but I am having the hardest time trying to find out when you give medication to a pt subQ, what size gauge and inch should be used? Also what is the maximum amount of medication to be given subQ? On this question I'm getting two answers: One is 3 ml and one is 5 ml. I don't know if I'm over reading the material in my book or what? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
