Physically Taxing: Historic Nursing Gender-Discrimination Suit Settled
I am so happy to hear this. So an exterminator and window washer work harder than a nurse in an ICU, REHAB or Ortho? I highly doubt that. I know a nurse who tore her rotator cuff because she had to act quickly. Her client who had a CVA started to vomit while on his back. If she hadn't quickly turned him, he would have aspirated. 10 years later, she still suffers with shoulder damage and pain. So please NY, don't say that nursing is not physically more demanding than exterminator and window washing!! This is just one of many stories, I am sure.

Do any colleges accept an associates degree from excelsior for a bridge to BS?
Pacific Union in Napa area is supposed to take Excelsior courses. Contact (MODERATOR EDIT OF NAME). That is, f you want to move. I moved back to Cali and had to drop Excelsior, even though I took all classes minus the CPNE. I wish California took grads cuz I would go back and due the CPNE.

LPT to LVN
Nope, not for me. A lady that was handling my application with the BVNPT suddenly retired and didn't finish my application. I am still working as an LVN though.

Pacific Union College LVN to RN
Can you tell me if you have to take ACT and TEAS before you apply? How are you liking it so far? I live in Vallejo and have been seeking out this program since I lived back in NC. It seems like the perfect program for working adults. I did not do well on the originally TEAS so I need to ramp up for the ATI TEAS. Any information you can provide would be most appreciated!

Took NCLEX in 2016 but Cannot Get Nursing Job
Starting out in Skilled nursing, aka SNIF seems to be a good start for many nurses I know. Just a thought...

CNA Overlooked for Advancement
That's what I was thinking...I have heard this all too often. If you are too good, they block you from leaving. Eventually, people get frustrated and just move on. I would go to HR.

Violence in Nursing
I worked as a psych tech in a hospital. A male and female nurse brought charges against a violent patient. Most patients have enough knowledge to know right from wrong when they are not having a psychotic episode. I also have a nurse friend whose wife is permanently disable from a patient who came in for medical reasons. He was having a delerium episode and PTSD. He attacked her and broke her back. She sued the hospital and one due to lack of support and safety issues.

So is there really a nursing shortage?
Well, I moved back to CA in December. It took me 2.5 months to find a job. It was super low paying LVN job, but it was the only one who responded. I had to walk in the door to apply. This is the Inland Empire area where there are tons of people and lots of LVN schools. Now that I have been here 7 months, other opportunities are starting to present themselves but it was very hard at first. I see more opportunities and sign on bonuses up north.

Feel like a horrible nurse!
