  1. The latest update was that the experience should be at least 2 years.
  2. @medic28 sorry, just got around to reading this :) yeap, back in '08 but I finished my OJT in '09.
  3. I passed my requirements early 2009 and I'm still waiting for a text message.
  4. I agree with yetski, it doesn't matter where you will take the exam, although I had a friend who scheduled hers in Baguio for the same reason you stated above. Anyway, I took mine last March 1st and the interviewer was really nice and she had made me feel at ease as soon as we started! I think her name was Caroline or Carol... well, moving on, as yetski said, it's just a normal conversation between two people so just be confident and organize your thoughts whenever you respond to the questions. That way you won't be left groping for words or phrases which in turn will make you feel frustrated and unable to answer.
  5. I don't think that rumor's true, originally I was supposed to take it on Sept. 3 but I still didn't have my passport so I rescheduled it on Oct. 2. Just contact their call center for your intended schedule and if it's not available they'll recommend another date closest to what you requested. Good luck on your exam!
  6. Took it on Oct. 2 and I just learned last night that I passed! Yahoooo! I used LaCharity, Kaplan, ExamCram and NCLEX 3500. At first I was just revising content but after seeing some posts here, I took to practicing questions on my last 2 weeks, alternating LaCharity, 3500 and Kaplan.
  7. had mine last Oct. 2 and it stopped at 88 questions. as i was leaving i saw others scribbling computations in their boards and i got anxious because i didn't encounter one, all i had were 4-5 SATAs, meds, priority, infection control and other multiple choice stuff that i can't remember. good thing that this is a good sign because i'm hanging on every positive thing to get me through another 2-3 weeks...
  8. No, I don't think they have a branch in Davao. You just have to go to Manila in order to study. Great supplemental knowledge for RNs, and also a possible alternative career. You'd really have fun while learning, especially on your OJT!
  9. Well, if it helps, you could check out Mr. Kumadrona on GMANews website. It's a video of a birth by a male "hilot"/"kumadrona".
  10. I have read somewhere that using the Trendelenburg position in hypotensive patients is an intervention under Class III (may be harmful; no benefit documented). Although some studies show increase in BP/CO, the effect is transient (1-7 minutes) and has no clinically significant changes in these patients even though it's still being used in resuscitation practices.
  11. In my opinion, although the program do indeed have its limitations, it's good that the government is starting to create a way to do something about the oversupply of nurses. It maybe too early to tell if it's a solution or not but in a way our fellow nurses from these areas can still learn and experience the profession without having to shell out thousands of pesos more for hospital training, etc. Also, I think this is more in line with CHN, as per the outlined objectives and the three I's. Since we all have gone through this in our education, we basically know the tasks related to that field of nursing. Besides, the purpose is also to serve their respective hometowns so isn't that in a way a good idea? We can't possibly ponder the effects this early but since the kinks are still being worked out, why don't we wait and see if it may prove to be a great program or not? Even a small dose of optimism can do a tad of good every now and then. Just my two cents.

If we're only to pass our requirements, can we go to POEA in a casual or in an already formal attire? Thanks!
  13. Try visiting IVT hub philippines. I forgot the exact url but you can google it.
  14. hi everyone! im from cainta & grad back on '07 from SACI. im a volunteer right now as an RN-EMT at Tondo and plans to take my nclex-rn on april. best of luck to all of us!:typing:redbeathe:redbeathe:redbeathe
  15. They are offering advanced clinical skills training such as intermediate IV therapy, respiratory, cv and feeding modalities, etc. ACLS, Advanced IV and Adult nursing for advanced clinical simulation program, but it's a bit pricey compared to other training centers since they charge 6K for the ACLS program alone. There had been no claims that the trainings that they are offering are also acceptable in the US but only for local practice. I think they know better than that since they are an affiliate of a respectable local university.
  16. Not only should the growing unemployment rate be addressed but also the salary rate as well. We are professionals but we can't work unless we volunteer or pay a hospital a huge some of money just to be trained. Then if we even get absorbed, the pay is just pesos away from the minimum limit. Also, we are not just professionals, we save lives. We should be treated with respect and be properly compensated like every other profession here in this country.
  17. If you plan to work in Dubai, POEA itself doesn't require 2 years experience, just your license. Yeah it's not easy but there are a lot of nursing fields out there, why don't you try them out while you're waiting? At least you'll be able to earn and learn at the same time.
  18. how can one be a member of OHNAP and be trained and certified by OSHA? I've been looking around for that and so far i haven't found one as of yet. Thanks!
  19. It's Life Support Training Institute and yeah it's in cubao. Besides Ramon Magsaysay High School in Ermin Garcia-- Last time I inquired they have ACLS training for 3,500 but i don't know the schedule for this month. You could go to http://www.psemt.org for more details and for the contact numbers-- as PSEMT and LSTI is located at the same address, and i think the same office too.
  20. totally! while i worked as an encoder before i started to review for my nle, i was poring over books and answering 50 questions a day on weekdays and on weekends i did 200 questions/day to evaluate how i analyze every problem. now i'm on my nclex i'm doing the same thing. so yeah, i think it's very doable-- it's just a matter of time management and prioritization.
  21. After passing my NLE last Dec. '07, I trained in the Red Cross for the basics-- 1st aid and CPR (they weren't provided at school) then while waiting for the next IV Therapy schedule and ACLS, i had started to work as a Company Nurse so that I could be able to pay for my own trainings and help out at home. I know volunteering is the best way to go but i can't rely anymore on my parents for money-- and training in hospitals ain't cheap. Also, after the NCLEX (hopefully within this year) I'd try my hand out in EMT Training. If and when I accomplish all these, I'd look out for more training programs just to keep myself in tiptop shape before applying for actual hospital experience.
